Independent Research – West Chester University of Pennsylvania Jan 2012 - May 2013

Experiments were conducted to understand the function of a prepilin peptidase HI-0296 gene and methyltransferase

HI-1351 gene in H. influenzae. Recombinant DNA was genetically engineered to generate mutation in these genes.

Also, the gene expression was examined under poor nutrient media. The results suggest that the gene transfer requires

further studies in vitro while HI-0296 gene in H. influenzae was down regulated in the poor nutrient medium.
