EXPERIENCE
Graduate Student / Research Assistant
Department of Mathematics, University of California, Santa Barbara September 2007 - present
Developing mathematical and computational approaches to problems relevant to the physics of soft
materials and related biological applications. My past work includes coarse-grained modeling and
simulations of lipid bilayer membranes, investigations of diffusing pro teins within fluctuating lipid
bilayers, and contributions to the development of new stochastic methods for chemical kinetics in
biological systems. I am presently a graduate student in the Department of Mathematics working
with Paul J. Atzberger. See the publications below for more detail.
Risk Management Researcher
Landsbankinn hf. (one of Iceland’s major banks) December 2006 - August 2007
Implemented prizing tools for derivatives with main focus on models incorporating stochastic
volatility.
Quality Control Optimization
Icelandic Export Center Ltd. Summers 2002 - 2006
Invented and implemented a SQL based database for quality control in a shrimp factory. Also, lead
optimization of the quality control for the production line.
Fishing Guide
Haffjardara River Summers 2002-2006
Educated guests about the river and the surroundings at a premier salmon fishing river in Iceland.
Provided a high quality service to enhance their experience of the river.
