*** ******** ***** ******, ********, Ohio 43209 Home: 235-2759 - Cell: 614-***-**** : ***********@*****.***

I have enjoyed employment at Columbus, Ohio restaurants as a solo pianist for varying lengths of time during the period from 2006 to 2013 (present). I have never been terminated except for reason that the establishment could not continue to afford the luxury of financing live music: always a boon, music is also always a luxury.

As a writer, I have been both salaried and freelancer at different times during the past twenty-odd years, in both instances for the Columbus, Ohio fund-raising specialists, Goettler and Associates. I consider myself expert generally at verbal composition, but with much more experience in non-fiction, particularly business writing, than fiction, scriptwriting, or poetry. I was briefly the grant-proposal writer for a start-up, green energy company, but parted ways over differences: I left before actually composing even one proposal, but was hired on the strength of samples, and familiarized myself with grant-writing, then.

I do not mind, and can enjoy and do well at, physical labor, and food-service work. I have done light-industrial, food prep, cashier work, and even barista work. I can function well in fast-paced or physically arduous work contexts, but do tend to excel at work which involves creativity and refinement of self-expression: I receive extravagant compliments, and tips, for the delicacy and passion of my solo piano work, likewise fine affirmation for the clarity and efficaciousness or persuasiveness of my writing.

I enjoy work generally, and need work now.

Creativity and arts and communications oriented by strength and preference.

Continuous employment at The Top, restaurant, since 2006, as solo pianist.

Salaried and freelance employment at Goettler Associates as writer.

Nearly a decade experience in food service, (Grinders restaurant), substantial experience in clerical and light industrial/warehouse work.

Paint-picker June 1983 to August 1983 DeSoto Paints - Columbus, Ohio Worked for three Summers at DeSoto paints, June through August: 1983-1985. Light industrial: cherry-picker, order assembly work. Used palate jack in job; worked full-time.

Waiter September 1986 to January 1989 Embers - Minneapolis, Minnesota Waited tables at primarily hamburger and American cuisine chain Embers. Like a Denny's approximately. I do not know if this chain still exists.

Salaried or Freelance Writer

Technically skilled and emotionally generous keyboardist/solo pianist.

Persuasive and expert business writer.

Reliable, physically capable, results-oriented general laborer.

Somewhat experienced retail/cashier person.

People person: enjoy and relate comfortably and well to people.

Team worker as is appropriate, but comfortable working unsupervised or individually.

January 1990 to January 2007 Goettler Associates - Columbus, Ohio Total tenure working for Goettler, approximately three years. I worked about a year on salary, roughly two years contracted as freelance writer. I wrote primarily documents to enhance and support fund-raising campaigns, which were in all cases on behalf of non-profit organizations. I became skilled at non-fiction writing, generally, and at business-writing in particular as a result of this work.

Cook and cashier January 1991 to February 2000 W.G.Grinders - Bexley, Ohio Worked in all capacities, here. Everyone was required to learn every job from sandwich-maker to barista to cashier. I did not advance high with respect to managerial position, nor did I wish to: it was fun, and decent pay.

Processor/General Help August 2000 to January 2003 Connell's Flowers - Bexley, Ohio I did more processing of incoming product, (flowers), here than anything else. I found it to be interesting, fun and easy work; great people.

Solo Pianist (to compliment dining for patrons) January 2006 to May 2013 The Top Steakhouse - Columbus, Ohio The Top is my bedrock: never laid off, never let go. Other restaurants where I have played and performed:

1. The Old Forty Tavern 2. Barrel 44 3. Sidebar 4. Cafe Istanbul 5. The North Market (this is the only gig which was "tips only")

I have never been fired: I have been disengaged from service, (laid off, technically) but always with the assurance that had finances permitted, my work would have continued. A vendor at The North Market told me I was the best musician who had played there since the Market opened.

Education

Bachelor of Arts : English and Asian Studies, 1986 St. Olaf College - Northfield, Minnesota, United States Very much loved and enjoyed St. Olaf. Excelled in my major, and graduated with B minus average overall. Awesome, exciting school.

Affiliations

I maintain a few internet social connections, but not very attentively. I spend more time refining my playing, (piano), and working on song-writing. I am an artist. I work outside music as required by circumstance, but am honest that I enjoy work generally, and work hard and carefully.
