The project is the Life insurance system which provides new business and product
administration functionality for fixed annuities and life products. Life File Maintenance (FM)
receives input from the New Business file, Customer information file (CIF) triggers, and CICS
created transactions. The Life online is pseudo real-time environment. When a transaction is
entered, a "future row" is added to the master database table and a transaction is created for that
night's batch run. During online activity the future rows are accessed to give the appearance that
the certificate has been updated. Prior to batch file maintenance the "future rows" are deleted and
the transactions are applied updating the database during the file maintenance.
