Biography
From NASCAR to Major League Baseball, Corporate Hot Air Ballooning to National Hockey League, Kelly has
been working in sports marketing and motorsports since 1983.
His career began early as a Crew Chief and Communication Director for the Stroh’s, Old Milwaukee and Schlitz
Beer(s) Hot Air Balloon Teams including 7 World Record flights.
In 1991, Kelly became a Sports Marketing Consultant for ABC/Walt Disney and CBS Sports implementing
marketing and advertising campaigns utilizing, NBA, NHL and MLB Radio Broadcasts working with The Texas
Rangers organization developing the Texas Rangers Radio Network.
In 1993, as a weekend racer Kelly became the Marketing Director, Car Owner, Spotter and Racing Instructor
for Team Texas Stock Car Racing School, Green Light Racing and 1994 Winston West Champion Mike Chase,
over and above his duties with The Texas Rangers Radio Network. After 7 successful years Kelly was offered
an exclusive opportunity by Roger Penske’s group to develop The Racing Experience Stock Car Racing School
based at the newly constructed California Speedway.
In 1998, as President of (dba) The California Racing Experience, Kelly began the task of a growing from
one to three locations offering national incentive, team building, vendor and sponsorship programs utilizing
motorsports events at tracks across the country as The Racing Experience. With his corporate clients and
sponsor relationships expanding, Kelly elected to sell The Racing Experience to the largest racing school in
the world… Skip Barber Racing Schools, Inc. / Sports Capital, LLC.
Kelly remained onboard as Executive Director managing all aspects of the business and continuing to expand
the company to 14 locations and 135+ event days per year.
In 2002, Kelly and his staff took the reigns of the financially challenged and publicly traded (NASCAR
Champion) Dale Jarrett Racing Adventure, growing DJRA into the 2nd largest racing school in the country.
In 2004, Kelly was approached by Ford Motor Company and Snap-On Tools to develop and implement national
sales incentive and team building programs for all dealers and franchisee’s utilizing The Racing Experience
Stock Car programs and motorsports events across the country. After 8 successful years and enduring the
economic slow down, Kelly elected to sell The Racing Experience intellectual property and assets to Rusty
Wallace Racing and return to his home market of Dallas, TX in 2012.
Kelly continues to develop motorsports sales incentive and team building programs, plan and place media
campaigns, maintain strong relationships with key accounts and oversee his son’s athletic career under RPM
Marketing, LLC.
Kelly is a strong communicator, excellent negotiator, relationship builder and overall people person. He has a
passion for business and marketing with a BA in Marketing/Advertising along with a Minor in Business from
The University of Texas.
