An experienced and self-motivated laboratory analyst with a range of skills in the areas of
water, waste, food technology and microbiology. I am comfortable in a team setting and also
working solo. Used to meeting tight deadlines in pressurized situations where public health,
well-being, safety and environmental issues as well as compliance within the current r egulatory
and legislative frameworks are paramount.
Work/project history:
City of Kingsland, Kingsland, Georgia, USA Lab Analyst- Waste Water Treatment Facility 2012-
Current and 1999 –2001
City of Kingsland is a municipality covering 44 square miles of South Georgia, USA. I reported to
the city manager and was responsible for testing water quality and waste water. Testing had to
comply with permits issued by the State of Georgia to ensure water quality and adequate waste
water management.
Some of the sampling that is carried out:
pH testing, DO (winkler and electrometric method), Total Suspended Solids and Total Volatile
Solids, Phosphorus (persulfate digestion), BOD ( 5-day incubation testing), NH3 Nitrogen
Ammonia (ammonia selective electrode method), Fecal Coliform (membrane filtration method),
and Total Residual Chlorine
United Water, Glynn County, Georgia, USA. Lab Analyst 2005-2011
United Water is a major US water utility business which is part of the Suez Environment Group.
I was Laboratory analyst at their facility on St Simons Island and was tasked with ensuring
compliance and regulatory sampling was undertaken from 3 water systems and 2 waste -water
plants which served communities in an area of nearly 100 square miles of South Georgia. I
directed a team of operators on scheduling and sampling and validated the relevant
documentation to ensure state and company regulations on water quality and waste
management were met. I was also involved in training staff on water information management
systems (HACHWIMS) and was involved in community outreach programs with local schools.
Some of the sampling that I carried out is as follows:
pH (by electrometric method),Dissolved Oxygen (by Winkler Method and elecrometric method)
Total Suspended Solids, Total Solids and Total Volatile Solids, Oil and Grease (extraction
method), Phosphorus (persulfate digestion), COD (Closed reflux, Colormetric Method)
BOD and CBOD (5 Day BOD test), NH3 Nitrogen Ammonia (Ammonia Selective electrode
method using known additions), Hardness (EDTA titration method), Fecal Coliform (Multiple
tube fermentation technique and Membrane filter technique and Colilert testing for drinking
water)
Altamaha Labs (Environmental Testing), Blackshear, Georgia, USA. Lab Analyst 2001 2005
Altamaha Labs carry out environmental testing as well as water and waste water testing for the
State of Georgia, USA. They also carry out microbiological tests on foodstuffs on behalf of the
Food and Drugs Administration (FDA). I was in charge of the microbiological testing department
which undertook analysis for a variety of purposes including:
. Drinking water
. Waste water
. Ecoli testing in blueberries and pork
. Shellfish water testing
. Beach water testing I was in charge of a team of staff which prepared media, sterile media,
reagents and sterilizing equipment. My team was also tasked with daily checks on lab
equipment and temperature checks. I passed yearly audits from NELAC (labo ratory
