Resume:

BRAJESHWAR OINAM

Product Manager, User Interface & Experience Designer

“I'm a product manager and team leader with a deep appreciation of

the relationship between meaningful design and powerful backend

solutions. I have been a backend developer, turned front-end

designer, with a proven track record of building products and

managing teams.”

Over my career, I have focused on 3 specific areas to develop my

overall capability:

User Interfaces & Experiences

I started my career as a developer turned designer working in the

trenches coding, understanding and promoting well-designed user

interfaces.

I'm particularly passionate about responsive interfaces, typography,

simple, clean, minimal and meaningful designs.

As an erstwhile developer, I am also sensitive to marrying great

design with powerful user experiences and backend solutions and

take a developer-first approach to delight a user by building usable

and beautiful technology.

Product Design & Development

I’ve been fortunate enough to lead and be at the fore-front of product

design and development at several startups and projects.

I’ve learnt it’s important to avoid designer hubris and focus on being

responsive to users and their needs from the ground up.

Rather than building products in an ivory tower, I prefer to work in a

lean manner and co-innovate with my user or customer base.

Team Building

My developer-designer community blog, brajeshwar.com, has

received over 7M unique visits over the last decade. I am a

community expert officially recognized by Adobe since 2003 for

evangelizing web standards worldwide.

I have learnt that team building and community building go hand in

hand.

I am able to blend this community engagement by adhering to global

standards, evangelizing my own teams, and growing them from the

community.

Community

Early on, in my professional life, I learnt that design and

development is a social activity. We’re always building on the work

of others using libraries, frameworks and runtimes that others

developed; debugging and adding on to code that others might have

written; communicating with systems someone else developed etc.

With this in mind, I’ve worked hard to learn from my peers in the

designer & developer community by sharing designs, code,

participating in discussions, and presenting at conferences:

Open Source, Forums & User Groups

• Experimented and published a bunch of open source codes,

which are still available at - downloads.brajeshwar.com.

• Regular contributor to open source projects at Github.

• Participated and helped a lot of designers and developers on

various online forums.

Presentations

• Pushing the Envelope with Flash ActionScript (April 2005)

Spoke at the “Powered by Detroit Flash and Coldfusion conference” at

the Hyatt Hotel, Detroit, USA.

• Be a Ninza CSS Coder with CSS Preprocessors (April 2012)

Hasgeek: MetaRefresh India’s leading conference on User

Interfaces.
