improve their manufacturing efficiencies by helping to outsource some of

manufacturing to Malaysia.

Set up inventory management program where parts were assigned to specific

Saved $15M in purchase of paraffin wax by eliminating brokers

and partnering with Yankee Candles in consortium purchasing program.

Allowed Henry Company and Yankee Candles to buy paraffin directly from

result of this alliance.

Purchasing Manager 1989-2002

Managed $75M+ purchasing budget in Supply Chain Procurement including

Global Purchasing for various raw materials and packaging for 5 Engelhard

sites in KY, CA, GA, and Ohio. Led 4 direct reports.

Developed direct purchasing contacts in China, India,

Indonesia, Korea, Japan, Russia and Taiwan resulting in significant

savings not only for Pigments Division, but also for Catalyst,

Specialty Minerals and other company divisions.

scheduling procedures to comply with ISO 9002 Certification

requirements resulting in ISO 9002 certification. Efforts included

developing raw materials specifications for over 500 raw materials,

and writing purchasing and scheduling procedures for ISO procedures'

manual.

Collaborated with corporate logistics to purchase FOB foreign

ports saving $3M per year.

Successfully partnered with R&D and control labs to develop

new products that met US and international standards in TSCA, EINICS,

costs. Cost saving strategies turned pigment business into major

Bill) regarding import duty suspension on major raw materials

purchased abroad.

Assisted foreign sourcing in implementation of package bar

coding meeting Company's label requirements. This resulted in

suppliers implementing and meeting our packaging requirements.

Successfully planned and directed national public warehousing

distribution network to support colors business. Contracted with 6

warehouses which supplied all colorants to Behr Paint Distribution

centers and US Home Depot Stores.

Reduced natural gas costs by 15% annually by successfully

negotiating with major gas company and Louisville Gas & Electric.

PPG INDUSTRIES, Automotive Coatings Division, Cleveland, OH

Purchasing Manager

As Automotive Division Purchasing Manager, managed $300M annual purchasing

budget. Budget included contract negotiations costs, blanket orders, and

cost control for all functions including engineering, maintenance stores,

raw materials, labs and 17 plants. Led 24 buyers, one materials

coordinator, one maintenance supervisor, 4 storekeeper clerks and 2

administrative staff. Created, implemented and directed purchasing

policies for 23 US Automotive plants and successfully shipped 300+ color

lines, and 5,000 stores parts daily to these facilities.

Grew business from $70M in purchases to $300M in 6 years by

successfully launching and achieving low bids for paint primers which

revolutionized rust prevention in automotive industry.

Developed just in time inventory with major suppliers saving

$320,000 per year in warehousing and carrying costs.
