Standardized a PCR for the detection of Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Human Parainfluenza virus 2

and 3 in respiratory tract samples from patients with acute respiratory infection.

Evaluated the prevalence of Mycoplasma pneumoniae in a selected population of children with

asthma exacerbation.

Identified the genotype of Mycoplasma pneumoniae in positive samples for this agent.
