Hematech, LLC
Worcester, MA and Sioux Falls, SD
Research Assistant II
Performing molecular biology assays, including: bacterial prep, plasmid
prep, PCR, RT-PCR, transformation, library screening, subcloning, and
southern blots. Also performing immunological assays such as SAS cutting
serum, antibody preparation, fluorescent microscopy, and ELISAs. Attempted
the abaltion of B cells from neonatal calves by IV injection of antisera.

In the In Vivo Testing Dept. Performed experiments to prove the efficacy
and safety of the implants produced by In Vitro Testing Dept. to detect
serum glucose levels bloodlessly. Duties included rodent surgery, post-
operative care, SOP generation, technical writing, and histology on animal
tissues. Re-instituted the core histology facility.

Health Care
Worcester, MA
Research Technician II
In Gene Therapy/Oncology Dept. Performed experiments transducing human
genes into hematopoietic stem cells (HSC, CD34+ purified via magnetic beads
and ficoll hipaque gradients) of murine bone marrow and human cord blood
donors (xenografting of bone marrow cells into ablated mouse recipients).
Performed total body irradiation of mice to ablate bone marrow using a
cesium irradiator and performed bone marrow transplants using virally
transduced donor cells. Also ran PCR, qPCR and Southern Blot analyses on
CFU-GM colony DNA to look for the presence of the transgene, and
immunohistochemistry. Work performed supported a funded IND.
