Edward M. Watson, B.S. Geology
Morriston, FL 32668
******.********@*****.***
Qualifications Overview
Mr. Watson has been performing Geologic surveys and analysis since 2002.
His work in mining encompasses Heavy Mineral Sands Exploration and Production
drilling. Mr. Watson has experience in Heavy Mineral Sands for three separate companies
including DuPont present in Undifferentiated Quaternary sediment of the Trail Ridge
which included production and exploration drilling using 4” solid stem augers. This work
included providing soil samples and mineral percent estimates of the various sites. In
2012 Mr. Watson performed similar work for Gannett Fleming outside of the
Okeefenokee Swap area of Southeast Georgia. He has experience in drilling for
Aggregate Materials and his exploration drilling work has been primarily responsible for
assisting in the ability for the Mine Planning of multiple Limestone Mines in North
Central Florida. Mr. Watson’s work also includes drilling work in aggregate sands of
Southeastern Georgia. His mining experience also includes Lithium mining through brine
concentration using a pond circuit system.
His work in Florida includes environmental investigations for the Florida Department of
Environmental Protection’s Petroleum Pre Approval Department (FDEP) through
Creative Environmental Solutions from 2005 through 2009 as a Project Geologist and
again in 2013 as a Field Geologist. During his work with Creative Environmental
Solutions, Mr. Watson produced written reports for clients based on field data of soil
boring logs, soil samples, and ground water samples collected from field events.
Generate electronically produced well and soil logs using LogPlot software. He has
written proposal requesting work orders from the State of Florida agencies, insurance
companies and private interest for assessment of petroleum impacted sites. He has also
written Phase 1 ESA’s.
Mr. Watson’s Geo-Technical work includes the Site assessment through soil identification
for preconstruction of structures and making recommendations as to foundation design.
Also, responsible for the supervision of foundation underpinning, performing slump
analysis of grout and supervising the installation of foundation repairs. Split Spoon,
Shelby tube, and pitcher barrel sample collection. Performance of Vertical and
Horizontal Permeability for storm water retention basins. The use of geologic software
for the display of near surfaces sedimentary columns.
Mr. Watson also has hard rock drilling experience in New Mexico and Nevada.
During this time, Mr. Watson worked as a contract Geologist through Northwind, Inc. to
work within a group of Geologists for the installation of Groundwater Monitoring Wells
to assist with the monitoring of the known multiple discharge sites of the Los Alamos
National Laboratory.
In Nevada, Mr. Watson worked as Playa Superintendent for Chemetall Foote
Corporation. This type of mining incorporated pumping brine from existing and new
Onsite wells into man-made clay-lined ponds and gradually concentrated the brine by
moving brine through the pond circuit until the brine concentration reached a point where
it could be processed with quick-lime. From this point the processed brine was sent to
smaller ponds where the brine was allowed to continue to concentrate. Mr. Watson was
responsible for the oversight of Silver Peak brine processing, the well field maintenance
and well field monitoring.
Mr. Watson has 10 years of laboratory experience, including work with the University of
Florida’s Geo-Chemistry Group. This work involved performing resin column chemistry
for the purpose of isolating ratio active isotopes for the purpose of radiometric age dating
of the core samples. His lab experience includes working as a Civil Engineering Senior
Teaching Lab Senior Teaching Assistant, Florida Atlantic University, Civil and Ocean
Engineering Departments, Boca Raton, Florida, 1999 to 2002. During this time, Mr.
Watson designed, maintained and assisted in establishing teaching laboratory exercises
for the undergraduate programs. Purchased and maintained laboratory equipment.
From 1992 to 1999, Mr. Watson was Senior Laboratory Technician, Broward Community
College in Davie Florida. In this capacity, he was responsible for the set-up of various
teaching laboratory exercises. Additional responsibilities include the manufacturing of
media and solutions used for both testing and organism culturing. He is experienced in
aseptic protocol and sterile procedures used in the growth of bacterial and fungal
organisms. He is experienced in H.R.S. aseptic procedures for the disposal of live culture
organisms.
Areas of Drilling Specialization:
Mr. Watson is experienced in the following drill methods: Hollow stem Auger, Solid
Stem Auger, Sonic, Geo-Probe (Sonic), direct push (Geo-Probe), Flooded Reverse
Circulation, Split Spoon, Mud Rotary, Wire-line coring, Hammer Drilling and Rotary
Coring.

Stumpe, K. Michael and Watson, Edward Section 4 of the Broward Soil Conservation
Service’s Semi-Annual Report in 1993.
Conducted a study of the Littoral Sands of the Broward County, Florida Beaches. This
work included collecting Beach Profile Data from Broward County Department of
Environmental Protection, fore and back beach sample collection to allow the analysis of
sand sorting values. A map was generated displaying erosional and depositional areas of
the Broward Beaches.
