EMPLOYMENT

1992-1996 CST, St. Vincent's Hospital, Indianapolis Campus

Worked in the surgery department primarily scrubbing and

assisting on orthopedic, hand, spine, and neurosurgery cases.

Would also help in other specialties as needed. Also became

very proficient in the instrument room by decontaminating,

wrapping, and sterilizing instruments. Took call on a

rotational basis. Would cover other shifts as needed.

1996-2004 CST/CFA, Arnett Clinic, Lafayette, IN

Worked for a hand/orthopedic surgeon (Dr. Steven Novotny) as

his assistant both in surgery and in office. Duties

included: being in charge of a very busy office, application

and removal of casts, traction devices, splints, and braces

as well as assisting with office procedures. I have sound

triage knowledge as well as excellent phone skills. I am also

very proficient with ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding. I did all of the

surgery scheduling as well as some appointment scheduling. I

took call with the doctor on a bi-weekly basis and this

included performing procedures in the emergency department.

Surgeries would range from general orthopedic cases to

complex microsurgical cases, including trauma. Also, I

worked very closely with Ivy Tech State College in regards to

precepting Surgical Technology students three times a week. I

was in charge of ordering supplies and stocking our surgery

room in the office. I was very adept at using the computer to

pre-certifying surgeries and ordering/maintaining supplies

for our surgery room.

2004-2006 CST/CFA, Assured HealthCare, INC, Indianapolis, IN

I filled in at various surgery departments as needed across

Indianapolis. Other duties besides scrubbing (and assisting)

various surgeries (including: orthopedic, ophthalmic, breast,

plastic, general, podiatry, and GYN) include, pulling

preference cards and appropriate cases and stocking supplies.

I also would work in various surgery centers during the

overnight shift recovering patients post operatively. This job

required me to be very self-motivated as with Agency work

there is little or no "orientation".

2005-current Director of Central Supply, Purdue University

Veterinary Teaching Hospital, West Laf. IN

I manage and supervise all aspects of the Central Supply and

Laundry sections of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. I am

the key purchaser for the hospital (using Purdue's SAP system),

procuring bids on capital equipment, contract negotiations, and

maintaining a $1 million inventory by working closely with our

suppliers to ensure timely delivery and best pricing. I assist

in maintaining equipment and facilitating their repairs. I

assist in laundry as needed. I also supervise billing

functions. I ensure the sterilization of instruments and

equipment. I provide classroom and clinical instruction to

veterinary technology students. I am responsible for the

recruitment, selection, appointment, supervision, promotion,

and discipline of my employees: five full-time, one part-time,

and eight student employees. Lastly, I provide assistance in

the OR, large animal and small animal, on an as-needed basis,

particularly when special instrumentation is needed from a

particular vendor. I facilitate all arrangements pertaining to

new/borrowed instrumentation, equipment, and supplies. I am a

voting member of an Administrative Council which oversees

decision-making procedures of the hospital. Also, I am a

member of the Infection Control Committee at the VTH. I have

filled in as a temporary supervisor in the surgery section of
