WORK EXPERIENCE

IMASCO MINERALS Inc. Jan2013 - Apr2013

I was contracted as a CFD Research Engineer to execute a thorough CFD-investigation for the design of a

special purpose industrial furnace. This parametric simulation model enabled them to optimize the design. I

developed an interactive model in ANSYS FLUENT that would simulate the full function of their furnace i.e.

the process in which particles are fed, heated, expanded and carried out of the furnace .

IMASCO MINERALS Inc. and UBC (Joint Venture) Nov2012 -Jul2013

I was employed as a CFD-Research Engineer collaborating on the design of a particle-classifier device

(called Virtual Impactor). I was responsible for developing CFD simulations using ANSYS FLUENT. Specifically

I would simulate a jet of air originated and directed by particular diffuser geometry. I would then simulate

and track the path of particles that were being carried by the jet and based on my observations I would

make recommendations to improve the geometry design of the device . The research was aiming to separate

particles (carried by a jet of air) by inertia. I was also responsible for setting up experimental trials,

fabricating prototypes, testing, collecting data, analysis and writing reports and conclusions of trials.

Applied Fluid Mechanics Lab of UBC Vancouver Canada May2010 – Nov2012

As a Research Assistant I collaborated with a research team on a subject that demanded broad base of

Mathematical skills and knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics at the same time in order to develop a

numerical simulation that would model the process of sheet formation in paper machines. (ANSYS FLUENT,

MATLAB and C/C By the end of the contract period the goal was achieved successfully. My model was

published and presented at the PAPERCON2013 conference in Atlanta Georgia [1].

Applied Fluid Mechanics Lab of UBC Vancouver Canada May2008 – May2010

I worked, as a Junior Research Assistant, on the research and development of a novel technique in 3D CAD

modeling of weave-structured sheets and fabrics using Micro-Tomography Laser Imaging and Image Analysis

methods. This technique was published in Nordics Journal [2].I was also responsible for Reliability

Engineering in the pulp and paper facility of UBC, which included: maintenance, technical support diagnosis

and help with repair of the machinery.
