OBJECTIVE:
To obtain a Buyer position in manufacturing where my experience,
training and education will contribute to the overall success of the
organization.
EXPERIENCE:
May 2012-present
Buyer-Sourcing Manager TMS Safety Services---Portage, Indiana
As a manager representing a variety of equipment manufacturers, I
procure industrial and safety equipment for contractors working at
steel plants and direct to petro-chemical facilities in a project
based supporting role. I submit bid proposals for capital and MRO
projects, write purchase contracts and source CAPEX to these locations
working closely with project managers to successfully complete the
task. I service accounts in the environmental and construction
industries as well. In addition to exploring new projects to support
and developing relationships with prospect customers, I field calls
with current clients, meet with key contacts to estimate project
timelines, calculate equipment needs and manage on-site inventory
demands. I also negotiate pricing, submit contracts and quotes,
process and track orders, schedule product re-stock and evaluate
personal protective equipment performance in relation to customers'
day-to-day operation and safety requirements. Conducting work that is
organized and results oriented is vital to my operation, as I'm
responsible for completing these tasks in a timely and efficient
manner.
August 2009-May 2012
Account Representative-Project Manager Oilind Safety, Inc South
Holland, Illinois
Oilind Safety, a division of Airgas, supports the contractor community
that work in the construction, steel, and petro-chemical industries by
providing safety equipment and personnel services. My core
responsibilities included identifying project opportunities and
developing relationships to promote Oilind resources, creating project
scope of work, communicating with Lead Supervisors on equipment
demands and cost saving initiatives, monitoring the order process with
manufacturers in relation to pricing and availability, and performing
supply chain duties to maintain project objectives. I supervised a
major turnkey maintenance project at the Marathon-Detroit Refinery in
2010 providing on-site safety personnel and supplied air/respiratory
equipment. One of my responsibilities was to test O2/H2S/CO & LEL
levels and record the data from numerous breathing air stations and
manifolds that contractors and trades needed to perform work in
confined space throughout the facility. In addition, I tested,
calibrated and recorded data results for fixed gas detection systems
located at 6 water pump stations for the city of East Chicago.
November 2007-May 2009
Midwest Account Manager Total Safety, Inc.-Griffith, Indiana
Total Safety provides its clients with integrated and comprehensive
safety assurance strategies for managing their hazardous environments
and sources the necessary equipment and staff to implement them. My
responsibilities included developing and maintaining relationships
with facilities and contractors in the petro-chemical, chemical, and
steel industries, managing the sales and marketing plans for assigned
accounts, and servicing existing clients' needs by supplying them with
the tools to complete their projects on time and on budget. One of my
most significant and rewarding assignments was a $250,000 project for
Marathon-Canton Refinery in the fourth quarter of 2008, a year in
which I was also awarded a Sales Performance Award. One of my duties
was to test O2/H2S/CO & LEL levels and record the data from numerous
breathing air stations and manifolds that contractors and trades
needed to perform work in confined space or areas throughout the
facility that required grade D-breathing supplied air.
January 2000-October 2007
Operations Coordinator-Material Handler Univar USA, Inc.-South Bend,
Indiana
Univar, the United States' leading chemical distributor, is where I
played a key role in- and out-of-house. Internally, I procured
equipment to maintain manufacturing demands and materials to satisfy
customer orders, assigned pricing to our product line, maintained the
database, oversaw budget management, and tracked MRO part counts. I
was responsible for overseeing warehouse functions such as shipping
and receiving, order staging, coordinating logistics with
manufacturers and freight carriers, managing product forecasting and
inventory, and monitoring customer deliveries. I was also intimately
engaged with client and vendor outreach by building and nurturing our
customer relationships and working with vendors to resolve procurement
issues. I supervised the Tank Farm, unloaded/loaded bulk chemical
tank trucks/railcars to and from storage tanks, re-packaged product to
customer specifications and recorded chemical storage readings. My
tasks also included testing specific gravity and ph levels of a
variety of chemicals, managing the waste water treatment department,
testing neutralized water ph levels, taking samples and reporting the
data. I then scheduled safe transport to Chemcare Waste Management
Facilities. I also served as a member of the Safety Committee and
Audit Team; meeting monthly to discuss safety procedures, updated
contingency/SOP plans and reviewed incident/accident reports to
determine Root Cause. For my work, I received Distribution Awards in
2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006, as well as a Red Cross National Good
Samaritan Award in 2007 for saving the life of a man by performing
CPR.
