Education
Master of Science: Chemistry Case Western Reserve University -
Cleveland, OH May 2013
. GPA: 3.875/4.00
. Emphasis in Organic Synthesis
Bachelor of Science: Applied Chemistry Huazhong University of Science and
Technology - Wuhan, China June 2011
. GPA: 83.0/100.0 (US equivalent 3.4/4.0)

Research Experience
Research Assistant
06/2012 to 07/2013
Case Western Reserve University - Cleveland, OH
Master's Research Project: Synthesis of new electron donors for solar cells
. Performed nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), MALDI-TOF MS, and infrared
spectrometry experiments, and analyzed spectrums to identify products
for each step
. Collaborated with lab partner to utilize cyclic voltammetry to research
the electrochemical property of synthesized functionalized zinc-
containing phthalocyanine and calculated its HOMO and LUMO energy level
. Synthesized functionalized zinc-containing phthalocyanine from thiophene
through six reactions and discussed application of obtained
phthalocyanine as electron donors in photovoltaics. Results could be
published in lab paper
Research Assistant
10/2010 to 06/2011
Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences
- Beijing, China
Bachelor's Thesis Project: Detection of hydroxyl radicals
. Designed experiment to indirectly detect hydroxyl radicals by applying
phenylalanine as radical scavenger
. Studied high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to select the best
separation condition
. Separated and identified hydroxylation product of phenylalanine
successfully according to LC-MS results
. Accomplishment: confirmed a novel mechanism of metal-independent
production of hydroxyl radicals
Research Intern
07/2009 to 09/2009
Tian Nan Xing (TNX) Industry Co., Ltd. - Chongyang, China
Internship Project: Researched the breakage of X-ray detectable polymer
thread in winter manufacturing
. Collected data and found the polymer thread was easy to break in winter
manufacturing process
. Constructed a function between polymer thread's tensile elongation and
temperature by controlling variables in experiments. Interpreted the
function to find the tensile elongation decreased sharply after a
critical temperature point
. Provided feedback to the company to control environmental temperature
range in winter and received positive result
Additional Experience
Volunteer
July 2012
Ohio Senior Olympics - Cleveland, OH
. Worked in the hydration team for track and field athletes to serve
athletes for their needs during competition
. Recorded and reported score as a scorekeeper in badminton and hammer
throw games

Empty-nest elderly volunteer activity: To provide company to empty-nest
elderly and release their loneliness
. Organized 4 volunteer activities to help empty-nest elderly around
campus community
. Contacted and discussed with the director of community to determine
responsibility of volunteers and the role of community committee in
volunteer activity
. Each activity lasted 1 day. Attracted more than 50 college students to
attend
Athletic competition: To enrich the extracurricular event of students at
Chemistry Department
. Cooperated with others to organize the Chemistry Cup basketball
competition. Chemistry Department sponsored this competition
. Responsibility including making game schedule and arranging basketball
referees
. Expected 12 teams to attend. 17 teams attended the game
Manager of Student Contributions
