TOW ATE Manager, Electro Design Manufacturing, Inc (EDM) 1991 - 1994 (3
years)
. Responsible for development and formal validation of Digital Missile
Guidance Set (DMGS) System Test Station (STS). STS was used for production
testing of Digital Missile Guidance controller (DMGS) in a ground TOW
Missile system.
. Responsible for Hybrid Test Station (HTS) development, a Fluke/Summation
based card tester for production testing DMGS signal and microprocessor
cards. Wrote HTS software using Summation Testbasic. HTS utilized in-house
developed instrumentation libraries.
. Responsible for HTS redesign that cut over $70K from station cost. This
was used to build a second HTS.
. Managed TOW ATE Engineering group of forty engineers, programmers,
designers/drafters, technicians, and support personnel.
. Responsible for HTS and STS installation and customer training at various
U.S. and International locations. Training included operation, maintenance,
and calibration of both Test Stations.
TOW Project Engineer, Electro Design Manufacturing, Inc 1989 - 1991 (2
years)
. Project Engineer for development of Digital Missile Guidance Set (DMGS)
System Test Station (STS).
. Responsible for all hardware/software development from concept to a fully
operational test system.
. Software development and documentation per MIL-STD-2167.
. Used Harvard Project Manager to plan and schedule activities of STS
development team consisting of fifteen engineers, programmers, and
technicians.
. Small company, full employment environment made it hard to find people.
Thinking outside box, subdivided work into smaller tasks that could be
accomplished by part time engineers. Running a nearly 24 hour shift of part-
timers with a small core group of full timers still allowed the project to
be completed very close to the predicted schedule. Accomplished this
despite losing a number of months trying to hire full time people. This
required a very high level of coordination, teamwork, and communication.
Sr. Design and Development Engineer, Pentastar Electronics 1982 - 1988
(6 years)
. Participated in development of 68000/TI9900 based General Purpose
Interface Test Adapter (GPIA). The GPIA was used in testing LRU's and SRU's
for Bradley Fighting Vehicle and Abrams M1 Tank.
. Performed board level design and systems integration/testing on Digital
LRU Programmer, General Purpose, and TOW Electronic plug-in Modules for
GPIA.
. Wrote GPIA ATLAS TPS software to test TOW Command Guidance Electronics
(CGE) and Integrated Sight Unit (ISU).
. Developed low noise GPIA motherboard for use with 10/12 bit analog
signals. Assisted other engineers in with noise reduction techniques for
their cards.
. On Design team for state-of-the-art Electric Van DC Motor Controller.
Designed part of embedded microprocessor controller board. Wrote real-time
interrupt driven software to control the display, motor, electric
transmission, and battery subsystem.
