7,000
surgeries annually, encompasses 9 ORs at the main campus, 3 ORs at the Outpatient Surgery Center, PACU,
SDS, PAT,
E EG, Sterile Processing and Anesthesia Services. This division encompasses 5 direct-reports with over 80
F TEs and has
an operational budget of $8 million.
• Restructured Surgical Services which led to an improvement in room tu rnover and on-time first case
starts, reduced operational expenses and enhanced revenues. Developed an Operating Room Committee
w ith comprehensive data to include block utilization, on-t ime first case starts, turnover times, patient
satisfaction and core measure scores resulting in a stronger team, enhanced collegial relationships with
surgeons and anesthesiologists and improved productivity.
• Worked collaboratively with an architectural fi rm in the designing, planning and building of 4 new
operating room suites and the complete renovation of the existing ORs, PACU and SDS units as well as
Sterile Processing.
• Actively working on the development and implementation of a Kanban system for managing supplies and
materials in the operating room.
• Actively working on the t ransition from individualized anesthesia carts to standardized PYXIS systems
for the new operating suites.
• Successfully implemented an electronic medical record with MediTech Client Server throughout Surgical
Services.
