PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Command and Leadership

§ As Navy Mission Commander and Strike Planner, personally planned, led and/or participated in 42

combat missions including 10 strike escorts under hazardous flight conditions over enemy territory

and sometimes under enemy fire during Operation Desert Storm.

§ As Naval Flight Officer, was hand picked to attend the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN)

and selected from a cadre of highly competitive peers to fly a high profile escort mission deep into

Iraq to gain critical reconnaissance imagery and information the final day prior to the beginning of

the ground war in Operation Desert Storm.

§ As Navy Line Officer was personally screened and groomed for future fighter squadron command.

§ As Senior Pastor of a 350 member congregation, served over 12 years as official spokesman and

providing executive level leadership and pastoral care.

§ As a denominational leader, was elected presbytery moderator, appointed to serve on the

Presbyterian Church in America’s Hurricane Katrina Task Force, and commissioned to serve on the

church’s highest court – the Standing Judicial Committee.

Management and Training

• As Navy Line Officer, served in various management positions including Quality Assurance

Officer, Administration Officer, Supply Officer, Legal Officer, Assistant Division Officer,

Command Duty Officer, Emergency Reclamation Officer, and High Risk Training Instructor.

Directed, trained, and evaluated at different times12-80 officer, enlisted, and civilian personnel in a

variety of work settings and demanding environments. Mission requirements involved managing

people, components and work centers critical to mishap free operations, troop morale, military

readiness, and war time success. Instructed personnel in matters ranging from physical fitness and

safety to aircraft systems and weapons to planning strategic missions utilizing a variety of battle

group assets and coordination with strike aircraft from other nations. Managed and evaluated over

8000 officers in hundreds of high-risk aviation training evolutions without serious incident.
