2011 2012 Monday, 1st October, 2012 I started a course in Dublin Business School in
“Certification in the Fundamentals of Databases and Cloud
Technologies”. I attend this course on two evenings each week: Monday
and Thursday.

In August 2012, from the 21st to the 26th, I was a volunteer for “The Tall
Ships Race, Dublin”; which was an extremely enjoyable and educational
experience. I made a lot of new friends and learnt a lot about what it takes
to be a
volunteer.
Employment History In 2002, I was promoted to Production Supervisor for the whole factory.
I held this position until I was made redundant in October 2009.
From April 1989 until my redundancy in October 2009, I helped build what
started out as IPR into AGI Media, one of the country’s leading producers
of print for the computer industry.
In the early 90s, I was a senior member of the team that enabled
IPR achieve ISO 9000 certification by assisting in the creation of
the company’s Quality Assurance Manual.
1988: In May of 1988, I worked as co supervisor in Cosmon Origination Services a subsidiary of Litho
Studios, one of the country’s leading graphic reproduction companies.
1985: I started work as sole member of the prepress department of Irish Printing Resources in April 1985
and built it into a professional and highly efficient part of this new
company.
1979 (July/December): I worked in Precision Graphics in the summer of 1979 as a graphic
reproducer and typesetter.
I was again appointed deputy supervisor as well as head of the lithographic
dept. in The Three Candles Printers. I held this job from November 1979
until I left in April 1985.
1979 (January/June): In early 1979, I was offered the position of Deputy Foreman in the Case
room.
1977: I completed my apprenticeship in July 1977 and commenced work in The
Three Candles as a fully qualified compositor.

1972: I started work in July of 1972 as an apprentice compositor in The Sign of The Three Candles
Printing Company. I served a 5 year apprenticeship and for the first three
years, I attended Bolton Street C.I.T. School of Printing on block release
for three 3 month periods between 1973 and 1975 where I received
qualifications in Junior, Intermediate and Senior Certification in
Compositor’s Work. At this time, I also attended night school on Parnell
Square to achieve my Leaving Certificate.
During the course of my apprenticeship, I was invited to take part in the
advanced course for Compositor’s Work through the City and Guilds of
London Institute. This entailed attending Bolton Street C.I.T. for night
classes for one year. I also received the William Godkin Trophy for
Typographical Design.
