With six years experience as radiation therapist, I endeavor, with the

radiation oncology team, to educate patients and their families about the

treatment process, to treat patients accurately, efficiently and with

dignity, and to record the treatment for confirmation and repayment.

Varian and Siemens Linear Accelerators; verifying the

patient, procedure and dose; immobilizing patients

appropriately; utilizing paper and electronic charts; using

IMPAC recording and verification software

Communication: Explaining the CT scanning and treatment planning

processes to the patient and family; explaining the treatment

procedure; reassuring patient's concerns, when expected side

effects occur; taking positioning port films for physician

review and completing requested corrective action;

communicating any abnormal laboratory test results to the

doctor

Teamwork: Collaborating with the team to treat patients meticulously and

efficiently; participating with the doctor to determine the

proper position of the patient for the CT scan; informing the

doctor on the patient's tolerance of the treatment;

questioning of the patient to determine physical condition

and communicate any adverse changes to the doctor; discussing

best treatment practices during chart rounds

seen by the doctor, weekly, to assure continuity of care;

performing daily warm up and quality assurance (QA) checks;

notifying the proper personnel, when equipment shows faults;
