Senior Director, Global Marketing Operations
Led team of up to 60 Marketing Services professionals operating as a shared-service
business across four sites in NJ and PA supporting Global Franchises, US Market, Merck
Vaccines Division, and Merck Consumer Care. Responsible for US tactical support and
Global collaboration.
My experience includes leadership of a Marketing Services team (including graphic
designers, production, editorial & copy writing, asset management), organizational
design, global collaboration, people management, and strategic planning. Some specific
examples of my achievements include:
• Following the merger of Merck / Schering-Plough, led an initiative to outsource
the print management function to a third party – an annual $25 million print
business. Outsourced program generated savings of $1.2M in FTE’s and $2.7M in
savings to the Brands in the first year of the program.
• Successfully integrated similar Marketing Services departments from both Merck
and Schering Plough following the merger of the companies, aligning people,
services, systems to provide uninterrupted support to the Brands while eliminating
redundant functions saving $900k.
• Led team of six Marketing Communications senior leaders in redesigning the
creative development process. Streamlined the workflow by removing redundant
steps and instituting parallel work streams, saving >$100k for a global launch
campaign. Earned a Lean / Six Sigma Greenbelt, during this seven-month project.
• Co-led development and implementation of a Global Packaging Program,
standardizing the graphic design of the Merck product packaging. The redesign
emphasized consistency in the use of brand, dose, and corporate identity around
the world resulting in a strengthened corporate and brand presence while
decreasing the chance of medication error.
• Led team that developed and implemented ‘Files-on-Demand’, a system that
delivered electronic production files of promotional tactics to approximately 70
countries, saving millions of dollars in local marketing creation costs.
