Los Angeles office of TBWA Worldwide Network generating $1.8B in annual sales as an Omnicom subsidiary.
IT DIRECTOR
Responsible for overseeing and managing all IT related aspects of the Los Angeles and Nashville offices. Responds
to the needs of over 800 users in Los Angeles, the largest office in company’s global network, and around 20 in a
smaller satellite operation in Nashville. Provide a leadership role in the delivery of high quality Information Technology
strategy services. Interact with and make presentations at executive and senior management levels. Manage the
daily operation of the IT department and coordinate projects and activities with other departments in the company.
Coordinate the activities of the infrastructure team in ensuring: maximum uptime, adherence to backup policies and
regular security checks. Create and manage IT budget for Los Angeles office. Manage financial leases pertaining to
IT equipment and liaise with the CFO for major financial decisions. Implement and enforce IT related policies both on
a departmental and a company wide basis. Develop and maintain productive relationships between IT department
and business units and analyze organizational technology needs and capabilities. Recruit and select staff and
facilitate ongoing training and development. Maintain hands-on involvement with some technical processes in a
support and guidance capacity for department employees. Manage relationships with IT vendors and negotiate
pricing structures. Define hardware, software and font acquisition policies. Develop programs and databases to meet
the immediate needs and requirements of the IT department. Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, follow and enforce

• Negotiated a decrease in the BT Telepresence contract for 2013 resulting in a net savings of $150K for
the year.

• Project managed the roll out of a Cisco based VOIP telecoms solution (Call Manager and Unity) in
addition to a Cisco Telepresence room.
• Implemented a Cisco Meeting Place solution to handle voice conferencing and in doing so reduced the
companies spend with AT&T and Intercall by $150K per annum.
• Replaced an old faxing solution with a Faxcore solution and coupled with a change in service provider
managed to save the company around $25K per annum.

ELECTRON HIGHWAY (PTY) LIMITED, Johannesburg, South Africa • 1994-2003
A long established, highly regarded IT company providing specialised business process management (BPM)
product applications and support services to small and medium sized companies. Services include supply of
computer hardware and software, management of turnkey projects (encompassing business analysis, design and
implementation), end-user support, security management, disaster recovery, network management and
administration.
FOUNDER AND MANAGING DIRECTOR
Initially joined TBWA Hunt Lascaris as IT Manager. Identified a need within the rapidly expanding organisation for
the establishment of a dedicated company to service the group’s IT requirements. Assumed responsibility for
establishing Electron Highway, as an IT service provider initially for the TBWA group in South Africa, and
subsequently expanded the client base to include companies outside of the group. Responsible for growing the
company from a greenfield venture into a consistently profitable operation, predominantly through word of mouth
recommendation and repeat business. During this time acquired majority shareholding in the company and diluted
equity among subordinates as an incentive and reward for commitment and long term contributions.
Managed all internal office administration functions as the direct supervisor of a 17-member staff ranging from an
Operations Manager to a receptionist. Orchestrated all financial controls such as: billing, accounts receivable,
accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, fixed assets, account analysis, month-end reporting, cash flow
management, VAT and other tax reporting and compliance duties. Delivered key primary support for financial, sales
and technical personnel. Responsible for planning, structuring and negotiating major contracts handled by the
company and worked with the Operations manager in deploying the technical resources for the contracts
undertaken by the company. In charge of recruitment and selection of staff and provided support, expertise and
guidance for the existing senior technical staff in determining and implementing corrective action.
Operational/Financial Highlights:
• Developed a software application to address the call management function of the company which grew to
include other key operational functionalities such as asset management, manpower costing, customer
relationship management, IT management capabilities and human resources administration. This
application attracted the interest of the existing client base and was marketed and sold on a broader
scale.
• Achieved profitability in the first year of business and a minimum of 20% increase in profit on a year-by-
year basis in the subsequent 5 years of operation.
• Instituted an in-house customer service training program and customer feedback process, which resulted
in a significant increase in customer satisfaction experience.
