• 1977 Graduate of Swartz Creek Community Schools.
• Continuing contractor’s education program mandated by the E.P.A. on how
to deal with lead and associated hazards.
• Job site safety training mandated by O.S.H.A.
• 40 Years of on the job experience.
Past Employment:
• Worked as an apprentice carpenter and misc. helper for grandfather’s
construction company from age 14 to age 16.
• Worked for well known area block and flat work mason from age 16 to age
18.
• Worked for a well known area framing carpenter from age 18 to age 20.
• Worked as a project manager, finish carpenter, painter, cabinet installer, as
well as customer liaison from age 20 to age 32.
• Worked approximately five months during the 1981 recession for Simone
Construction Co. (Belleview, WA) on a “Motel 6” in San Fernando, Ca. (No
work in Michigan)
• Planned, priced, and constructed several projects apart from family business
from years 1982-1993. Examples include home and office renovations,
constructed and upgraded farm and storage buildings, large & small
residential & commercial additions, kitchen remodels, and re-roofs.
Licensing:
• Obtained State of Michigan Builder’s License in 1982.
• No complaints registered against license in 30 plus years.
• No litigations.
• No liens ever filed on any project due to non payment to suppliers or sub-
contractors.
Self Employment History:
• I have been self employed from 1993-present. I left my family business
(was partner with brother to that time) and started up a separate company.
My partner (brother) only wanted to construct new homes. I wanted to also
branch out into commercial work as well as new home construction.
• From this time to present I have constructed over 100 custom homes (all on
contract/ no specs.).
• Renovated many types of residential & commercial buildings.
• Made upgrades and improvements to several churches that I regularly work
for.
• Scores of insurance jobs of many types including fire restorations.
• Store fronts and interiors.
• Barrier free restrooms & entryways.
• Porches, decks, patios plus much more.
Interests/ Hobbies:
• Maintaining the water quality of the two multi acre ponds I excavated on my
property (keeping aquatic plants to a minimal in order to grow the sport
fish).
• Restoring antique toys and furniture with my wife.
• Working with beginner ice hockey players.
• Talking politics and economics with my two sons.
• Watching my youngest son play ice hockey and promoting him at the next
level.
• Walking my German Sheppard dog “Sherman”.
• Raising money for American war veterans.
Current Situation:
• Although I’ve developed and enjoyed a good reputation for a lot of years in
my area, many of my regular clients are aging and retired and are now
scaling back on their spending. I have also obtained regular work from
referrals but with Michigan’s population shrinking and a continuing slow
state economy, most non essential building is at a standstill. My income has
been down by 60% to 70% for six straight years. I can no longer wait for a
turnaround while competing with laid off union carpenters and handymen
who are unlicensed & uninsured. I must rebuild my savings and retirement
accounts. Also, I feel that my talents are going to waste by not continuing to
help construct new buildings and homes. Further, the thought of relocating
to a business friendly growing area where there is hope and prosperity
appeals strongly to me.
Skills:
• I have had extensive experience in foundation staking and setting grade,
overseeing foundation and framing work. Prepping & checking buildings
prior to sheet rocking. Planning and executing exterior treatments.
Overseeing all types of interior finishing right up to the Certificate of
Occupancy receipt, plus exterior site work.
• Accomplished finish carpenter.
• Excellent painting skills.
• I can deal with various personality types and strive to get the most out of the
workmen on construction sites while always stressing quality workmanship
and a team work approach.
• I regularly jump in and help subs and laborers to keep the job moving
forward and to show these folks that their efforts are appreciated and
promote loyalty from them.
• I am a good “trouble shooter” when tough problems arise and can come up
with creative solutions for these.
• I can sell services and buildings to clients and make them feel like they’re
getting the most for their money.
• I have a good general knowledge of most building products and can convey
to clients and workmen the proper uses plus the pros and cons of these.
• I am good at making material go as far as possible, finding ways to save time
and recognizing opportunities to save/make money for my respective
company and client.
Personal Assets:
• I am a man of high moral standards & good character. I am a good “people
person” and can interact positively with others. I have no criminal record or
drunk driving issues and rarely consume alcohol. I drive a late model half
ton pick-up truck and have a complete set of tools. I’ve managed to keep
my business in Michigan going despite six plus years of hard recession
thanks to repeat customers, good reputation, and my ability to do most any
type of job.
I understand that it’s my job to deliver a quality product while making my
employer as much profit as possible without sacrificing service. I could be a
great help to a developer, building contractor, realtor, or investment group.
Note:
I can give a long list of references which include past clients, building &
zoning officials, title company personnel, and mortgage companies.
