Responsible for teaching: DC, Analog, Digital and Communications System theory and applications.

Performing laboratory hands on circuit assembly, t roubleshooting and testing.

M otorola – Broadband Communications Sector, Ho rsham Pa 1/2013 to 5/2013

Ha rdware CATV Engineer : Responsible for RF testing of cable modem per SCTE-40 requirements,

i ncluding all the various configurations of the headend CMTS server, APEX1000, SEMV12, Matrix, C8,

client modem and the PECA RF impairment systems for Wi-Fi and Ethernet data rate error

measurements using the modem error rate counter.

Agilent ADS RF analysis and design optimization of the cable modem RF output section. Computing S-

parameters and K factor for stability. The RF output is 75 ohms and the matching had been done at 50

ohms. The ADS analysis included adding the layout t race sizes, parasitic circuit’s models and

optimizing the output circuit to 75 ohms to achieve f lat frequency response and circuit stability.

N avmar Applied Sciences Corp, Warminster, PA 11/2008 to 7/2012

Senior RF Engineer : Was responsible for performing RF simulations’ with Simulink and RF design

i n Agilent ADS. Projects included simulations of wireless MSK, GFSK, FSK and QPSK for muti-path,

adjacent channel inference, bit error rate and sidelobe suppression in both a linear and non-linear

amplifier. Was the lead engineer for a UHF FSK and GFSK t ransmit ter using a 1-Watt device rated for

5-watt for peak power, designed both analog and digital electronics circuits for FSK/GFSK modulator.

T he Agilent ADS designs were for filters at UHF and L-Band. Analysis and redesign of Patch antenna,

testing of two L-Band antennas, designed both a digital and analog beam former for the phase array

testing. Filed FCC application for UAV frequency usage in controlled air space and DD1494’s were

updated. designs were for fil ters at UHF and L-Band. Analysis and redesign of Patch antenna, testing

of two L-Band antennas, designed both a digital and analog beam former for the phase array testing.

F iled FCC application for UAV frequency usage in controlled air space and DD1494’s were updated.

M otorola – Broadband Communications Sector, Horsham Pa. 03/2007 to

03/2008

RF Test Engineer : I was responsible for RF and digital testing of set top boxes. Responsibilities

i ncluded: RF testing of Constellation and MER (Modulation Error Ratio), adjacent channel

i nterference, additive phase noise, QPSK testing for all distortion, QAM multipath and bit error rate

(BER).

L ockheed Ma rt in, Newtown, PA. 12/2003 to

3/2007

P ayload P roject Manager : Performing Spacecraft requirements f low down to individual unit

specifications. Interfaced with all other system lead on Mechanical, Thermal, Power. There were

complex t rade studies for: launch vehicle, spacecraft size, weight, power, heat pipe layout coax and

waveguide and harness routing for EMI/EMC and environmental test plan. The RF layout was for

noise temperature, output power, vibration and temperature. The t rade studies would be combinations

of issues, to be solved while still meeting all sub-system requirements and design margins. Issued

d irection on optimizing the RF payload and working with the PMO, customer and all other team

members interface leads. Presented the PDR, CDR and FDR RF transponder design review to the

customer. Supported all management and customer review meetings on compliance and non-

compliance corrective actions.

T emple Univ. F T Washington PA. 2001-2003

G raduate P rofessor -MSEE P rogram . Teaching EE551 “Digital Communication by Bernard Sklar”

Teaching baseband and band pass modulation, demodulation, block and convolution coding, link

budgets, FDMA, TDMA, CDMA multi access, spread spectrum, modulation bandwidth and BER coding

t rade studies. Course taught theory, simulation and application for PSK, FSK, QAM, with my

additional link budgets analysis notes using linear (SSPA) and non-linear (TWTA’s), spectral re-

growth, real filter characteristics.

Motorola – Broadband Communications Sector, Horsham Pa. 11/99 to

12/2003 L ead M ixed Signal Design Engineer for CATV digital return product to support

DOCSIS modem application. Architecture consisted of 100 MHz A/D or DAC, FPGA, Ser/Des and 3.2

Gbps Optical components. Directed 3 Engineers and 2 Technicians on design/software,

manufacturability, 7 layers PCB layout, with manual trace runs for high speed data lines. Performed

a ll systems levels chip performance t rade studies. Performed and directed testing of frequency

response, spurious product, eye diagram, constellation and NPR from breadboard to qualification

testing.

L ockheed Ma rt in 4/1986 to 11/1999

R ada r Design Engineer : Performed RF System Matlab simulation analysis for waveform, designed

and tested of frequency convertor, test were frequency response and spurious signals. Analyzed the in-

band spurious products and determined they would be non-compliant. I proposed a high side LO with a

DSP inversion of the waveform. Designed and test both frequency convertors and demonstrated the

new proposed design to lead system engineer. The new design had no in-band spurious products.

N ew Business RF System Engineer for RF t ransponder satellite sub-system. I was responsible for

a ll RF t ransponder sub-system analysis and theory of operation section of proposal. I directed all the

other lead team members on Mechanical, Thermal, Vibration payload component location placement

for optimizing of RF performance, while still meeting all of their spacecraft requirements.

R F System and P roject Engineer for RF t ransponder satellite sub-system. Responsible for all

system analysis, provided schedule and cost impacts. Responsible for requirements f low down from

Spacecraft specification to individual unit specifications. Responsible for all system analysis and lead

PDR, CDR and FDR design review. Performed cascaded channel response, linearity and gain, phase

noise and BER analysis, environmental testing for vibration, temperature and EMI/EMC.

Responsibilities included RF design and test support, accessing compliance, providing test and

manufacturing support provided cost, schedules and technical trade’s presentation package to

management.

R F Senior Design Engineer : Responsible for RF analysis, design and testing of frequency convertor
