iSeries Systems Administrator

• Served as QSECOFR to the entire system. Administrator of

Newsweek’s two IBM iSeries Model 520 M15 with HMC on

each box running the Accounts Receivable system for Advertising

Billing written in ILE COBOL and RPG programming languages.

Also running Infinium Payroll system for al of Newsweek’s

payroll processes.

• Responsible for all iSeries vendor supplied software and system

tools for both systems. Served as contact with vendors and

performed installation of all software on both boxes.

• Installed and administered the iTera mirroring software for

mirroring of all production data to the development system.

• Performed iSeries Administrative duties on two IBM iSeries

computers for Production and Development.

• Developed data refreshed process for updating Development

Environments with “Scrubbed” production daily thru overnight

batch process.

• Performed system migration from the company’s prior two model

720 iSeries to the current two Model 520s running V6R1.

• Performed complete DR simulation as requested by new parent

company. Both OS/400 installations were executed perfectly

and the Application Data and Program Source and Object

libraries’ were restore and production ready for use. Passed

Audit.

• Administrator of Newsweek’s web based Coda Financial System

performing Administrative and Development duties using

Microsoft SQL programming language.

iSeries Administration Consultant

• Maintain two model 720 iSeries systems for magazine’s

global Accounting system for Advertizing Billing written in AS/400

COBOL & RPG. Perform complete audit of all vendor supplied

tools and additional iSeries software.

3/08 – 6/08 Scholastic Book Publishing

Consultant iSeries

• Developed Data Warehousing applications for Scholastic

Publishing. Working as part of a development team I was assigned

numerous Data Warehousing tasks in the form of batch processing

using embedded SQL statements and sub-query processing in

iSeries ILE COBOL. Utilizing the Star Schemer Data

Warehousing methodology of Fact and Dimensional tables, I

developed several applications to Data Warehouse Product

Inventory and Order data into Data Marts for Data Mining used on

the Scholastic Customer Order Analysis system.

11/07 – 2/08 THE HARTFORD INSURANCE COMPANY

Consultant iSeries

• Performed numerous UAT and Audit test cycles by restoring iSeries

data to libraries for setup of test. Created CLP to handle data loads.

• Completed all project documentation on System Stress Testing and

UAT signoff’s for pre-system deployment.

10/07 – 10/07 COMPUTER MANAGEMENT

Consultant

• Performed corrective maintenance work on CGIDEV2

application allowing web access to AS/400 applications and data

for the US Customs Airline reporting system.

• Configured and deployed performance data collection to

allow the iSeries to better tune itself during peck operation times

when system demands would shift from online to batch.

10/89 – 7/06 UNITED WAY of TRI-STATE

Manager of System Administration and Operations Duties

• Served as QSECOFR to the entire system. Created User

Profiles. Setup workstations on the iSeries (AS/400). Maintained

system performance and integrity.

• Developed Backup and Recovery strategies for iSeries

(AS/400) Operations.

• Performed hands-on technical troubleshooting to solve all

iSeries (AS/400) Software/Hardware related problem and issues.

• Performed large system conversions when moving from the

AS/400 model D50 (CISC) to new iSeries (AS/400) model 820

(RISC). Performed CISC to RISC observability check to insure

code migration.

• Performed large scale system migration from iSeries model

820 to (Single Frame) to a (Multi-Frame) model 720 iSeries.

Responsible for all iSeries (AS/400) installed products from

vendors such as ASC SEQUEL, NGS I.Q., LANSA 4th GL

language.

• Installed every OS/400 upgrade to the AS/400 D-50 from

V3R1 through the iSeries model 820 running V5R4.

• Performed all PTF and Cum PTF loads to the iSeries

(AS/400) system.

• Performed full Disaster Recovery Planning and Simulation at

SunGard Hotspot center Philadelphia, PA. Installed iSeries

(AS/400) OS/400, all vendor products, all iSeries (AS/400)

Applications and data files via a backup. Received A+ grade on

simulation. All applications were ready, all users were connected to

remote iSeries (AS/400) via their home location. Process fully

documented.
