• Currently freelancing with various Ad Agencies and Print Production houses.
Responsibilities include: Creating mechanicals, working with production teams
to intrepret press, print and web (duratrans) mechanicals. Creating resizes and
estimating project time/cost figures. Checking and preflighting files prior to
vendor outsourcing. Working with vendors to upload and troubleshoot files.
Working with Art teams to troubleshoot complex work which entails elaborate
diecuts, specialty printing, 6+ color printing, and OOH projects.

• Responsibilities included working with AD’s, and production to crossover,
mechanicalize and get press-ready print materials: Detail Aids, Slim Jims,
Navigators, Brief-Summaries, PI’s as well as specialized work such as Convention
Panels, Duratrans, Box Wraps, etc. I was also responsible for digital QC Gen-
erating High and Lowres PDF’s for Client, Vendors and Pub Spec’s including
PDFX1A’s. Comping digital layouts for Mechanicalization based on Art and
Production specifications. Creating and checking layouts for print-ready vendor
specs. Checked and prep’d all digital files for Healthcare/Direct clients for release
to outside vendors and clients. Preflighting digital files, and where necessary
created varnish plates and traps. Prep’d PDF files for Adsend and print release;
this involved checking dielines/strikes, tabs, bleeds, images, and type for distri-
bution, and/or Disk. Preflighting and prep’d for Press, Healthcare file spec’s.

etc.) and generating High-resolution PDF files. Collecting jobs for output, and
burning files to CD, or WamNet or FTP transmission.

I was responsible for a team of five, whose directive was to provide prepress

services (from scanning to film proving) for a parent printing company. My
duties included: Supervising digital prepress operations, interviewing and train-
ing freelancers, performed job estimating and billing. Conferring with clients, on
file preparation issues and potential problems. Preflighting, trapping, ripping,
and imposing film for stripping and proving I was responsible for all mac digital
file preparation, preflighting and troubleshooting. Did all digital stripping from
production layouts (either manual or imposition) in various applications, and
made decisions on what type of work was sent to Scitex Star/Brisque station
operators. Wherever practical, I created manual frames on Brisque stations for
transfer to PS/2 Star stations for Full Auto Frame work or manual Frames work
for direct output to dolev plotters. I created traps for both Spot and 4, 5, and 6
color jobs and creating Spot and Overall varnishes, kickers etc. I archived, cata-
loged, and retrieved both native Mac and Scitex file pick-up work. Did day-to-day
system maintenance on Mac’s and PS/2 Star rips, and back-ups. Did daily density
and scale calibrations and ex-curve work. Q’C’d dolev film. Worked closely with
both Prep/Production for Special trap instructions, special stripping parameters,
kickers, and trained others.

I was responsible for preflighting files; preparation, troubleshooting, ripping,

and worked closely with clients on all phases of job including: Software support
(Quark, Photoshop, Illustrator, Freehand etc.) Film requirements for outside or
in-house printer specifications Performed job estimating and billing
Troubleshooting hardware/software related issues Worked with clients on file
transfers and troubleshot potential file problems online. Advised Account Team
on job direction, as it related to overall timeline, and worked closely prep depart-
ment on job by job basis. Consulted on hardware/software purchases. Generated
PS files from their native app’s with scans and color spec’d artwork, and manual
trapping. Troubleshot naive mac/pc and PS files.Created custom traps in layout
and illustration programs, using strokes,fills and overprinting techniques also
used TrapWise for more extensive, digital trapping.Output 8, and 12-up imposed
films from ps files for stripping. Estimated billing time on each job.and native
files that were output as film separations,were color proofed on an Kodak
Approval and Matchprint System. Imaged PS or native work to film imagesetters
and checked for: linescreen, screen angle, halftone calibration, density, resolu-
tion, registration,and proper plate separations. Color proofs were taken for color
print simulation. Prepared discs with custom communications software for sales
rep’s clients. Automated connection with all outside guests from both Mac/PC
platforms. Checked PS files. Downloaded them for high resolution output to
imagesetters. Served as liaison between clients, sales, designers, and printers.
