TrakCare - Patient Management System
CAREER
Apr'2013 to Present NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde
Stobhill Hospital
Glasgow
G21 3UW
Role: Infrastructure Development Engineer
. In this job I was part of the TrakCare roll out team, main
responsibilities included delivering and installing PC's, Printers and
faxes as well as implementing the new patient administration system
(TrakCare). After the project went live I was responsible for dealing
with the customer and making sure the new system was working for them as
prescribed, as well as fixing problems before the system was handed over
to the BAU teams. This project required high levels of organisation and
accuracy due to some of the areas involved, eg operating theatres and A&E
depts where professionalism was also very important.
. I regularly used Windows Server 2008 to administer AD and the management
of the printer servers and was also responsible for network patching.
Nov'2012 to April '2013 Getronics Global IT Solutions
Old Greenock Road
Renfrew
PA4 9LH
Role: 1st Line Analyst
. In this job I was tasked with providing 1st line support to large
companies such as AlphaFlight and Gatwick Airport. I was in a team that
was the first contact for all calls and emails coming into the helpdesk
and we were tasked with either resolving the issues on the call or if
further investigation was required we would pass them to the relevant
resolver group.
. As each company had its own network, Domain and server set-up I had to
remote into several different workspaces in order to provide support.
This involved extensive use of Virtual Machines, Servers, Remote Desktop
tools and Active Directory.
. The AlphaFlight systems had just been migrated to a new Citrix
environment which I had to gain more knowledge in and provide support
for. As this was a new environment for the company as I helped create a
number of Troubleshooting and Fix processes for issues that hadn't
presented previously.
. One of the Contracts had also just migrated to Windows 7 from XP so I was
able to use a lot of my previous knowledge and skills to help smooth the
transition for users.
. As Getronics had been awarded many new contracts it was important that
myself and the team kept strict call stats and our weekly average was 99
- 100%
July'2011 to Aug'2012 Glasgow 2014 Limited
32 Albion Street
Glasgow
G1 1LH
Role: ICT Support Technician (1st/"2nd line)
In this role I was working mainly as a second line support technician, the
job involved taking calls from users in the building and logging them in
the helpdesk system. I would then either take the job for my self and
attend the users desk to diagnose the issue and try to come up with a
resolution wither it be replacing hardware components, producing a work
around or possibly rising a warranty replacement request.
If not I would then pass the call to one of my colleagues. I was working in
a team of 4 and together we worked through any issues that arose within the
business environment.
Before moving to our office on Albion Street, Glasgow. We were based in an
old building where we were on the Glasgow City Council network. Before our
'OAN (Office Administration Network) migration' I was tasked with logging
non hardware issues with the council helpdesk, Access.
I played a major part in the migration from the council network to Glasgow
2014's own, this involved re-imaging around 500 machines, and replacing a
further 100.
As well as working within the Glasgow 2014 helpdesk, I attended QA college
every forth week for two weeks where I gained my SVQ Level 3.
Reason for leaving: End of student apprenticeship
