I am part of a three-person team that provides HR services for a workforce

of 1,100 employees in 11 states. Responsibilities include recruitment,

employee relations, HR compliance, construction job specific HR compliance,

leave of absence management, EEO Compliance, and employee communication.

-Recruitment - Assist with all aspects of recruiting for company,

including: job requisitions, job posting, screening resumes, references,

employment offers, and recruitment files.

-Employee Relations - Assist the management team with policy

interpretation. Review formal disciplinary actions to ensure fairness and

consistency. Conduct investigations of employee complaints, present

information to management (and corporate council if applicable), and make

recommendations. Use discretion, interpersonal skills and mediation

expertise to handle sensitive employee matters.

-HR Compliance - Ensure compliance with federal/state/local laws and

regulations. Make sure labor posters are updated, organized, and posted in

conspicuous areas.

-Job Specific Labor Compliance - Assist Construction Estimators and Project

Managers with aspects of subcontracts that require special EEO compliance,

local hiring, background checks, drug testing, and special reporting.

-Leave of Absence Management - Manage entire leave of absence process-

determine eligibility, explain the employee's rights relative to their

state, send information, keep track of time off, coordinate benefit

premiums, return to work, ADA if applicable.

-EEO Compliance - Ensure that our company, as a federal construction

contractor, is complaint with the 16 steps mandated by the OFCCP; prepare

EEO-1 and VETS-100 reports.

-Employee Communication - Manage the rapid distribution of corporate human

resources communication (from the parent corporation), and in some cases

tailor the communications to our division. Also use creativity to write and

distribute well-composed memos, policy updates, and celebrations to all

divisional employees (and translate to Spanish where applicable).

Provided HR management and support, as a "one man show," to over 600

employees. I was responsible for the full spectrum of HR duties, including:

recruitment, selection, orientation, strategy, policies and procedures,

performance management, progressive discipline, termination, training, file

administration, ADA, leaves of absence, and benefits administration.

-Recruitment & Selection - Conducted all aspects of recruiting: job

-Strategy - Served as a member of the Management Team that met formerly on

a quarterly basis to strategize and create individual Action Plans relative

to our areas of responsibility. Our goal was to continuously improve

developed Standard Operating Procedures designed to ensure operational

consistency with the added benefit of being an excellent training tool for

new employees. Updated the SOPs as needed. Made major updates to the

Employee Handbook.

-Workers' Compensation Administration - Managed all Workers' Comp. claims.

Reported claims to insurance company, maintained OSHA log. Liaised with the

carrier on a frequent basis. Participated in quarterly claims review with

broker and carrier.

-Benefits Administration - Managed health benefits and 401(k). Participated

in yearly renewal process with broker. Ensured that annual open enrollments

were seamless and well-communicated. Processed all 401(k) loans and

hardship withdrawals, and termination paperwork. Managed COBRA process.

Miscellaneous: Orientation- designed orientation packet; Performance

Management- managed the performance review system; Employee Relations-

served as the company ombudsman; Progressive Discipline- reviewed and/or

prepared write-ups to ensure compliance, fairness, and consistency;

Terminations- reviewed all requests for termination and Administered
