Worked closely with production, engineering and maintenance to troubleshoot
quality issues in order to find root cause, countermeasures, and preventative
actions. Utilized SPC and other statistical techniques to drive continuous
improvement.
¬ Provided training to small and large groups on root cause analysis, quality
systems, statistical process control, and product safety.
¬ Completed Six Sigma project on a boring process that enabled the reduction
of 100% inspection and a reduction in personnel with a savings of

¬ Quality Lab supporting both Friction and Calipers. Supervised 1 Quality
Technician with the primary responsibility of caliper testing. Manage testing
equipment such as the Drag Torque Stand, Basic Characteristics Stand and Slide
Force Stand. Also, supervise 1 team member with the primary responsibility of
testing brake pads. Manage testing equipment such as Link Compressibility and
Dynamometer.
¬ Gage Calibration and CMM supporting both Friction and Calipers.
Supervised 1 Quality Engineer and 1 Quality Technician with responsibilities
that include gage calibration and control, gage R&R’s and CMM function.
¬ Prototype/Pre-Production activities. Supervised 1 Quality Technician with
the primary responsibility of building friction prototype material. Conduct
DOE’s to optimize control factors for the desired output. Participate in APQP,
Pre-Production Launch and PPAP activities.
¬ Completed Six Sigma project on excessive rework caused by powder coating
process. Reduced rework by 50% with a savings of approximately
$50,000/yr.
Akebono - Friction Quality Engineer
¬ Lead, facilitated and managed a 9-member quality team consisting of 1 Quality
Engineer, 4 Quality Technicians, 3 Lab Technicians and 1 Supplier Quality
Technician in a TS16949 certified brake-manufacturing facility. Amak Brake is a
key supplier to leading OEM’s including GM, Ford & Daimler Chrysler and Tier-1
suppliers including Delphi, PBR, Bosch and TRW.
¬ Responded to quality issues from the production floor, customers and
suppliers. Oversee all PPAP’s, Prototype builds, APQP, Control Plans and
FMEA’s.
¬ Responsible for all quality test specifications, data entry and data analysis.
Create control charts, histograms, etc for customer and corporate friction
material engineering requests.
¬ Worked closely with production, engineering and maintenance when
troubleshooting quality issues in order to find root cause, countermeasures
and preventative actions.
¬ Participated in cross-functional Jishuken, Muda and Kaizen activities in order
to make the production area more efficient and cost effective.
