ICU (Nursing Supervisor)

I, as a nurse supervisor, take on many tasks. In addition to overseeing patients, I also direct a staff

of nurses. I am in charge of hiring, scheduling and make sure that the nursing unit is running

smoothly.

I manage all of the registered nurses on my team. I also interact with patients, but I am mainly in

charge of making sure the entire operation is running smoothly and everything is up to code. If

something goes wrong, I am the one who will take the responsibility. I make sure my team is

properly trained and that everything is running correctly.

My duties include scheduling hours and assigning nurses to particular patients. I must also evaluate

my team to ensure they are giving the best care possible to the patients. I am also involved in hiring

nursing staff.

Being a nurse supervisor is quite stressful and time-consuming job. As the nurses are usually on-

call 24 hours a day and deal with a plethora of issues, so as a nurse supervisor, I must be able to

work efficiently and quickly under pressure and know how to keep the patients and staff calm and

under control. I am a capable communicator and often talk to the family members and inform

them about medical procedures and doctor's instructions.
