PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
ADVISORY ENGINEER
IBM Essex Jct,VT
July 2000 to present
Responsibilities include writing C and C++ programs for testing POWERPC microprocessors, creating system
models using VHDL and running simulations with these and other models, analyzing the results from these
simulations looking for functional and performance problems.
PRINCIPAL CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEER
General Dynamics Armament Systems
Burlington, VT
March 1999 to July 2000
Was responsible for designing, testing, tuning, troubleshooting, and making design changes to the
control systems for the Crusader propellant handling system. Also created plant computer models for
use in software testing. Helped software group implement difference equations that were taken from
my control models. Supported system integration at prime contractor’s location.
SENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER
Karl Suss America inc. Waterbury Center, VT
Jan. 1985 to March 1999
Designed machine control systems as well as managed software/hardware/mechanical/optical teams
that designed semiconductor processing equipment in an ISO 9001 compliant manner. In charge of
making sure that each design meets all the customers specs as well as meeting all local and
international safety and EMC standards depending on the country of installation. I also designed a
number of electronic systems, some of these designs included; A 1200 watt switching power supply for
Hg arc lamp control with optical feedback, The control system for an X ray wafer stepper (17
independent control loops), The control system for an LCD panel prober. An optical power meter. A DC
motor controller card. A stepper motor controller card. Pattern recognition system front end. A control
system for a 6 axis piezo motor driven flexure stage with laser interferometer and LVDT feedback.
Contract Engineer (part time)
JMAR SAL corp.
Williston, VT
June 1998 to Dec. 2006
Consulted on X Ray stepper design, build, test, and installation. Redesigned wafer prealigner electronics
and code. Modified a xenon arc lamp controller to reduce flicker by adding a intensity control circuit.
Designed, simulated and implemented digital control and filter algorithms for wafer stage positioning
system. Also helped with EMC, and interfacing problems on low level trace detection system.
