RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Independent Research, Ohio Northern University, Ada, OH
Under Dr. Denis De Luca, compared the extraction of DNA using DNAIQ manual method versus the
Robotic System. Prior to comparing extraction techniques installation of Biomek 2000 with the Differx
protocol was performed. Results were gathered and compared to the manual Differx methods and then
running PCR and gel electrophoresis. Fall 2010
Under Dr. Denis De Luca, assisted in validation of Differx extraction process. Prepared mock sexual
assault swabs. Quantified male DNA obtained from the mock sexual assault swabs compa red to
individually obtained swabs. Compared classic differential extraction method to Promga Differx method.
Results that were gathered from this research were focused on time spent with each process. Differx
process proved to be much faster and just as effective. Spring 2010
