EXPERIENCE

Technical Expertise

•In 2 years’ time, have shown myself as an effective member of the Precision Inertial Instruments (PII) program

with Honeywell, by adapting my experience and knowledge to use when working with fiber optics,

assembling final units, in-process measurements as well as assisting with engineering tests. Have recently

gained new responsibilities helping with machining parts on a sister program within PII.

•Identified a critical need for testing and troubleshooting multiple interfacing electronic systems, managed every

aspect of the design and development of a versatile shop mock-up, allowing technicians the ability to train

and troubleshoot specific systems in a controlled environment.

•Identified a critical failure which disabled the USCGC Munro's Radar to be remotely viewed and controlled

from the ship's Command Information Center. Troubleshooting radar and interfacing systems to verify a

faulty component within the interface circuit which was responsible for transmitting the radar bearing pulse

to the remote equipment. Repaired equipment which allowed ship and crew to operate without loss of

navigational ability while on patrol in the Bering Sea.

•Established an emergency communications center at Aviation Training Center Mobile after Hurricane Katrina

destroyed virtually all modes of communication. The rescue flights were able to carry out their mission once

communications were restored.

Research and Development

•Overhauled maintenance tracking database for the Electronic Support Detachment in Mobile, Alabama, which

allowed for accurate capturing of expended man hours and uncovering more than five hundred man hours

previously left unaccounted. Recognized for performance, was sought after to overhaul the databases for

three additional units.

•Led a project to improve communication between Coast Guard assets and other Search and Rescue and Law

Enforcement agencies while complying with the FCC's regulations for narrow band compliance. This

culminated in the first implemented coding standard throughout Coast Guard District 8.

Instruction and Training Development

•Developed and delivered a training program to teach subordinates how to use the necessary test equipment to

completely test transceivers. This allowed personnel to confidently complete their job and qualify for

advancement.

•Coached subordinate technician in troubleshooting a shipboard radar system; aided technician in reading schematics

and analytical troubleshooting, which promoted ability to problem solve, boosting confidence and technical

ability.
