Project Title (BE Final year) : Grid Connected Photovoltaic
System With Power Factor Correction
Environment: PIC Microcontroller, Solar Panel, Tracking System, DC Battery.
Description: A combined grid-connected/power-factor-correction technique for a photovoltaic (PV) system.
A maximum power point tracking dc/dc converter served as a charger for the battery bank. A bidirectional
inverter is applied as a generator/discharger during day time, supplying power to the load. The inverter can
also be used as a charger to maintain the minimum required voltage level of the batteries when the PV power
is insufficient. This system shows satisfactory results of the power management and the unit power factor at
the utility side. The objective is to show that with adequate control the converter can transfer the dc energy
from PV array and improve the power factor of the electrical system. The electricity from photovoltaic cell
can be used for a wide range of applications from power supplies for small consumer products to large power
stations feeding electricity into the grid.

Project Title (ME Final year) : Design And Implementation Of
DSTATCOM For Fast Load Compensation Of Critical Loads
Environment: Multilevel inverter, Boost converter, PWM control, PIC Microcontroller, Solar Panel Tracking
system, Battery.
To develop a DSTATCOM with battery energy source system and control of energy flow among the system
components. Multilevel inverter is used in DSTATCOM for mitigating voltage sag at the load side. Hybrid
multilevel inverter with sinusoidal pulse width modulation and minimized switches is presented. Voltage sags
are generated by faults in the distribution feeder, with the three-phase 7-level hybrid multi level inverter for
mitigating the voltage disturbances. Dc–dc converters are used to boost the input to the multilevel inverter,
based on the three-state switching cell and voltage multiplier cells. VMC converter having ability to maintain
current and voltage of input source and its gets to maximum level for grid applications. Improving the
efficiency, by harmonic reduction in the power system and fast load compensation by the combination of
voltage multiplier cells and seven level multilevel inverter circuits with PWM control techniques. Then,
computer simulation with the program Matlab/Simulink preliminarily verifies the effectiveness of the
proposed DSTATCOM.
