Directed Occupational Safety and Risk Management functions for 1100 union employees manufacturing

and selling snack foods throughout the western U.S. and distributed internationally. Managed corporate

general liability and property/casualty coverage for protection of property and operations valued in excess

of 170 million dollars. Also served as Adjunct Professor at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri

during this period.

Senior EHS Safety Engineer. The position will be responsible for management for all EHS functions for the site and continuous improvement projects to meet business objectives in regards to safety. The Safety Engineer is also responsible for the management of all safety practices, standards, codes and equipment for the site. Responsibilities: Assure compliance with applicable OSHA and EPA federal, state, local and corporate EHS regulations/requirements in region. Assist in building team cultural support of policies related to EHS by leading efforts in properly treating workplace

injuries or illnesses while ensuring company medical providers are unbiased and understand OSHA and internal rules on injury reporting. Provide EHS direction, assistance and support for corrective actions and recommendations to assure site safety improvements. Help create a culture of injury free attitudes within the team by demonstrating honest, genuine care and passion for safety that is demonstrated by the EHS Coordinator. Assure that the processes are in place to evaluate and conduct near miss, incident, injury, or illness investigations to discover root causes and develop

corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences. Conduct plant and site workplace inspections and audits to identify work hazards and exposures; determine trends and action plans for remediation and corrective actions. Provide documented reports of findings with corrective actions for resolution and remediation on monthly basis. Lead the safety committee in establishing and creating a zero accident and injury culture for all team members. Provide hands on remedial instruction and training to local teams to assure understanding, knowledge and standardization by meeting or exceeding

safety expectations and goals. Conduct and lead emergency response efforts during local crisis and/or contingency (weather disasters; bomb threats; Homeland Security; Civil Defense Response or other governmental agencies and tasks forces in addressing emergency situations at the plant operations). Identify and provides request for industrial hygiene assistance and testing needed or planned. Requirements: 5 years in an EHS role, preferably in a Chemical/Pharmaceutical/Food manufacturing environment. A bachelor’s degree in industrial safety, industrial hygiene or related

discipline is required. A solid, demonstrable working knowledge of cGMP, OSHA, EPA, Federal, State and local regulatory compliance requirements. Able to effectively communicate with team members. Ability to stay focused on goals, responsibilities and developing trend analysis process to help guide safety accident/injury elimination goals.
