Objective
To work in a team environment where I can use my research and technical skills.
Personal Skill
I am a bio-pharmaceutical researcher with 4 years of experience in pre-clinical data analysis,
formulation, in vitro protein purification and characterization. I have worked extensively on systematic
delivery of SiRNA/PolyTran PEG-grafted nano particles for the treatment of cancer.
Experience in handling spray dryer, homogenizer, sonicator, centrifuge, lyophilizer, dynamic light scatter
(DLS), environmental scanning electronic microscope (SEM). Worked on sample preparation,
purification, analysis, testing and reporting. Also handled UV Spectrophotometer, Fluorescence
Spectrophotometer, Ettan DIGE Imager scan machine, Alpha Imager HP (Alpha DigDoc RT2 Imager),
Electrophoresis (PAGE, Agarose Gel).
Multi-tasker, quick learner, easy communicator, responsible, flexible and hardworking.
Work Experience
Jan 2013 – Present Imdad-Sitara Khan Foundation Santa Clara, CA
Manager (Volunteer Position)
Imdad-Sitara Khan Foundation is a non-profit organization that has established and currently runs six
Kidney Dialysis Centers in Bangladesh to facilitate end-stage renal failure treatment to financially
challenged people patients of Bangladesh.
• Manage the foundations day to day operation.
• Coordinate with individual contributors and other charity organizations through various social
media and other channels.
• Organize fundraisers and other social events to communicate the foundations activities to the
general public.
Nov 2008 – May 2010 Intradigm Corp. Palo Alto, CA
Research Associate
Worked in R&D supporting SiRNA/PolyTran formulation development for the treatment of cancer. Our
group designed PolyTran variants with improved stability and performance. As part of that, several novel
heterobifunctional PEGs were designed and prepared with short synthetic pathways customizable to
specific binding ligands. Our group also worked on conjugating novel lipid-PEG-reagents with cleavable
PEG derivatives with various orientations. We worked on 60-100% mPEG-PT with tunable properties
such as particle size and siRNA release. We managed to formulate nano particles with excellent stability
in electrolytes and serum and extended shelf life stability to 5 months.
• Formulated siRNA/polycation peptide based PEGylated nanoparticles.
• Provided analytical support to R&D group by analyzing formulation components and prepared
reagents for in vitro assays.
• Performed in vitro protein characterization with nanoparticles by analyzing particle size, zeta
potential, and salt stability assay, UV/Vis to determine chemical concentration, and tested
serum stability of PolyTran nanoparticles in mouse serum by using Electrophoresis (PAGE,
Agarose Gel etc.). Used Fluorescence spectroscopy for both analyzing nanoparticles and
chemical compositions.
• Worked on protein purification using ultrafiltration method.
• Prepared HEPES buffer, MES buffer at different pH conditions for in vitro assays.
• Kept records and data of experiments in a note book.
July 2007 – Oct. 2008 Abbott Vascular Inc. Santa Clara, CA
Lab Assistant, Bioformulation & Biomaterial Group
Worked in the Bioformulation & Biomaterial Group.
• Dealt with nano and micro encapsulation formulations for regional drug delivery systems.
Modified and scaled up the in-house protocols for preparation of polymeric nanoparticles.
• Developed and tested these nanoparticles and was involved in application of these drug delivery
systems as a coating on catheter, balloon, and stent.
• Worked on modifying and scaling up the in-house protocols for sample preparation and
purification of polymeric nanoparticles using single and double emulsion by sonication and
homogenizer while keeping the particle size, polydispersity and surface properties the same
as the research scale.
• Prepared and updated the chemical inventory.
• Was closely involved in development and testing of these nanoparticles with the device group.
• Was involved in experimentation which looked into the effect of lyophilization on the
characteristics and stability of PDT liposomes (photo dynamic therapy).
Education
M.Sc. (Bio-engineering) University of Kent United Kingdom
Abstract: Research dealt with a biomedical image processing system related to a computer-based
analysis and its diagnostic interpretation on a range of Geometric Figure Copying Tasks in detecting
Visuo-Spatial Neglect among stroke patients known as the Rivermead Behavioral Inattention Test (BIT)
• Used data collected on a digital tablet from Stroke patients from different hospitals at Kent in
South West England and analyzed this data with different computational methods.
• The research showed that an automated computer based technique can produce significantly
greater accuracy that the traditional pen and paper based scoring.
B.Sc. (Biological Sciences) University of Dhaka Bangladesh
• Histology, Parasitology, Microbiology, Cell Biology and Embryology
• Emphasis on Bio-statistics and Ecology
• Field experience on sample collection, labeling and classification
