Professional Experience
NSI Crankshaft (formerly Norton Manufacturing Company) - Fostoria, oh
Manufacturer of oil field pump, Class 8 truck, automotive, and marine
crankshafts
Quality Engineer, July, 2013 to Present
Manufacturing Process Engineer, 2003 to 2013
Served as Value Stream Engineer for ten years. Recently assigned to quality
engineering position to improve the efficiency of production operations,
prepare engineering drawings in various CAD software, ensure customer part
print compliance, manage the engineering change process and act as customer
liaison for product quality issues.
Quality Initiatives and Results:
. Conducted process mapping and time/capability studies to improve
throughput, eliminate bottlenecks, and ensure adherence to customer
specifications.
. Lowered product returns by 10%, saving $90K per year. Reduced number of
customer complaints by accelerating response times to customer inquiries
and aggressively pursuing Customer Corrective Actions.
. Liaised between manufacturing and executive teams as manufacturing
engineer to implement air over hydraulic fixturing. Ensured process
repeatability, robust design, compliance with customer print GD&T
specifications, reduced tool cost, and achieved time per piece reduction
resulting in $50K annual saving.
. Incorporated Lean Manufacturing methodologies to solve a range of
manufacturing problems.
Atlas Industries - Tiffin, oh
Manufacturer of marine crankshafts, Class 8 truck engine components, and
compressor components.
Industrial Engineer, 1994 to 2003
Performed time studies, conducted tool cost studies to maximize cost
performance, prepare engineering drawings with CAD software, engineered
safety solutions to ensure 29 CFR 1910 regulation compliance.
Quality Initiatives and Results:
. Conducted time studies to improve throughput, while allowing proper
inspection of process specifications.
. Supported work team projects for scrap reduction, time per piece
reduction, and floor space reduction.
. Worked as liaison between manufacturing and electrical outsource supplier
to retrofit 14 grinders with servo motors, operator interface, and new
machine control gauging. The retrofit project was a $1.2M investment to
increase accuracy, repeatability, and "up time" of the machines.
