Objective:
Obtain a position with an electrical company in which my capabilities and training can
be used with the hope of passing my knowledge on to others.
Electrical Background:
January 2003 to Present: Dispatcher at Ohio Edison Company. Responsibilities include
but not limited to- dispatching trouble men/ line crews via Power On and MDT’s, writing
emergency switching, checking switching and directing switching in the field using
4.16KV through 23KV, emergency button testing for Central Area Dispatch. Proficient in
GIS View, GIS Design, Power On 4.2, Syclo-Ed Mobility, Cascade 3/31, EDOA, SAP
and Citrix.
March 1998: promoted to Plant Electrical Operator (First Energy) Responsibilities
included putting generator on line/paralleling with the grid, maintaining load, power
factor, taking generator off line and shutdown. Promoted/Transferred to Dispatcher at
Ohio Edison in January 2003.
February 1997: Ashtabula Plant Electrical Operator (First Energy) Responsibilities
included restoring “C” Plant back to service after being mothballed in the 1980s,
including 3 generators. Upgraded 480V circuit breakers.
March 1996: First Energy acquired The Illuminating Co. Electrical Operator position
was downsized/eliminated. First Energy moved me to reading meters for 10 months
until Electrical Operator position was reinstated in February of 1997.
January 1990: Transferred to Eastlake Power Plant (The Illuminating Co.) accepting
position of Electrical Operator. Responsibilities included maintaining batteries, replacing
brushes on generators, electrical switching, writing switching, performing switching in
the field and maintaining unmanned substations.
March 1985: Promoted to Perry Nuclear Power Plant Operator (The Illuminating Co).
Obtained stationary engineers license (boilers license) and went through 120 hour fire
fighting course provided by the Perry Nuclear Power Plant.
September 1982: Began employment with The Illuminating Company at the Perry
Nuclear Power Plant as a Perry Plant Attendant. Promoted in March 1985.
Firefighter:
March 1985: Joined Madison Fire District as a part time Firefighter/EMT. 1988 became
a qualified dive master, rescue diver, night diver and ice diver. Left the fire district in
January 2003 when I transferred out of the district to accept a position with Ohio Edison.
US Navy:
April 1977: Joined US Navy graduating Nuclear Power School in March 1978. Began
training at S1C prototype for 6 months the reported to USS Lapon (SSN661) in 1979.
Qualified electrical Operator and Submarines in October 1979. Trained to be an
Oxygen Generator Operator and Technician. Repair Parts Petty Officer for electrical
Division. Promoted to IC2 (SS) December 1979. Transferred to USS Houston
(SSN713) in January 1980. New Construction in Newport News Virginia, Repair Parts
Petty Officer for Electrical Division. Promoted to ICI (SS) July 1982. Granted
Honorable Discharge July 1982
Education:
Attended Cleveland State University September 1975 until joining US Navy in 1977.
Graduated from Bedford Senior High School June 1975
