Chief Operating Officer
Responsible for ensuring daily operations of non-profit health services agency with more than 250 employees
and annual budget of approximately $17 million. Provide executive oversight for three programs that serve more
than 2,300 low-income, frail and disabled adults each year. Oversee business support program managers,
including food service, purchasing, IT and transportation. Work with board of directors to create strategic and
financial plans. Represent agency on executive level community collaborations working to solve local health
care issues. Promoted twice: from Operations Director to Vice President of Administrative Operations (2008) to
current title (2009).
Executive oversight for programs:
• Rocky Mountain Brain Injury Services four residential facilities and one day treatment center
providing independent living skills services, behavioral health care, and other services to adults with
traumatic brain injury.
• Rocky Mountain PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) Assisted in bringing this
evidence-based program to El Paso County. PACE provides and coordinates all medical care, home care,
therapies (physical, mental health, occupational), social work and transportation for nursing home
eligible seniors age 55 years and older.
• Rocky Mountain Options for Long-Term Care Single Entry Point agency for El Paso and Teller
Counties, which provides case management and assessment services for Medicaid waivers including
Home and Community-Based Services to elderly, blind and disabled.
Major accomplishments:
• Implementation of agency-wide electronic health record system that will qualify for Meaningful Use and
improve patient care in PACE and Brain Injury Services programs. Worked with other executive staff to
secure bank financing and grant funding for $536,000 implementation budget.
• Led planning effort to successfully increase reserve funding for agency to more than $3 million in 2010.
• Completed more than $5 million in capital improvement projects, including purchase and renovation of
11 buildings. Responsible for planning, development and bidding processes. Coordinated architects,
engineers, contractors and sub-contractors, suppliers, and various local, state and federal oversight
departments.
• Launched the PACE program in 2008. This a national model focused on preventive care and care
coordination to keep nursing home eligible adults living in the community rather than in a long term care
facility. PACE is financed by blended capitated Medicare and Medicaid funds and allows the provider to
function as both primary care provider and payer for specialty care (www.npaonline.org).
