Experience

Freedom School Fellowship Christian Baptist Church January 2010 July 2010

While participating in the Freedom School movement, it was my responsibility as a Servant Leader Intern to first acquire

the knowledge that is necessary to successfully deliver a reading curriculum. The curriculum consisted of short novels and

activities that I created to relate the novels experiences with those that the inner city youth could relate to. While serving

under privileged youth in urban Kansas City, it was my job to successfully create lesson plans each day and deliver them

to the students in a way they could understand. At the end of the program I was able to gainfully get my students to read

almost an entire grade level higher than their previous bench mark.

St. Jude’s Ranch For Children June 2011 July 2013

St. Jude’s, a foster home for abused and neglected children, has developed my abilities to interact with youth who

struggle with severe behavior issues. As a Child Specialist, it is my responsibility to make sure the youth under my care

have all their basic daily needs met. At the end of each work day I create a daily log that allows case workers, judges, and

other foster care staff to see how the progression of residents on a daily basis. Also, I have participated in over fifty hours

of trainings overviewing youth assessment. Within six months of working for St. Jude’s, I was promoted, and accepted the

responsibility of becoming shift leader.

Upward Bound Program “Wellness Class” Teacher April 2013 August 2013

In the Upward Bound program, I was responsible for creating a six week curriculum for a wellness class. The course was

based on Jon Gordon’s “The Energy Bus,” where each student was familiarized with his ten steps to create a positive

individual, ultimately leading to a positive team. I gave out weekly assignments based on the curriculum. At the end of the

course, I had the students synthesize the information they learned into one large group project that would be presented to

parents and faculty at the program’s final luncheon.

St. Mary’s Graduate Assistant/ Academic Liaison for Women’s Basketball Program August 2011 Present

As a graduate assistant for St. Mary’s, I helped to recruit athletes to the program, run individual skill development

sessions, and assist in creating practice schedules. I also break down and assess film on current, future, and opposing

players, generating a detailed scouting report. As the academic liaison, I am responsible for making sure the student

athletes are enrolled in classes that are in accordance with their degree plan. I hold regular study halls for the girls, and

send out bi weekly grade checks for each student athlete.
