Professional Experience
Manager, Product Safety & Compliance
Coleman Co., Inc., 2011 - 2012 (due to company-wide lay-offs).
. Project management and budgeting for both established SKUs and new
product development, as well as or 3rd party testing, regulatory
submissions and vendor contracting.
. Constant analysis of, and / or contact with, global regulating bodies
and standards including CFR (29 & 49), CPSC, CPSIA, ANSI, ASTM, UL, CTL,
SGS, OSHA, EPA, Prop 65, CARB, TB 117, Health Canada, Environmental
Canada, US Coast Guard, FTC, CCPSA, AQSIQ, REACH, Europa. ECN (running
change) and PSA (production start) approvals.
. Author of all global product regulatory specifications, for all
product lines / SKUs, in addition to compliance labels and safety warnings
on products and packaging. Project manager for global law labeling and,
subsequently, manager of these regulatory standards for 19 foreign
factories (in addition to 1 domestic), as well as a government / factory
liaison.
. Product safety consultant for various hardline, softline and
fuel products. Researching and assuring quality and standards were
compliant with state, federal and international regulations (as well being
proactive to forecast possible upcoming changes and have contingency plans
in place). MSDS consultant and liaison between company EHS representatives
and global regulatory entities.
. Collaboration / consulting with domestic and international
'teams', including engineering, sourcing, product development, marketing,
and finance, under the Coleman 'umbrella'. Additionally, I was in routine
contact with global governmental officials, trade and regulatory entities,
and legal teams in emerging markets (especially, Asia).
. Constant usage of SAP to build sales / quantity sold reports
(pertaining to my stewardship role), as well as researching the validity of
a multitude of SKUs.
. Researched and implemented cost reduction changes resulting in

Along with other colleagues, I was laid-off in January, 2012. I am
extremely active in webinars, internet training courses, and receiving
automatic internet updates for everything from the Code of Federal
Regulations, OSHA, REACH, GHS, SARA, CPSC, CPSIA, ASTM, UL, CA Prop 65,
Health Canada, WHMIS, ECHA and others, just to help be assured that I don't
lose any of my previously acquired knowledge while remaining at the
forefront of new technologies and standards.
Product Safety Technologist
Invista S.A.R.L., 2007 - 2009 (due to company-wide lay-offs).
. Global MSDS, GHS and hazardous label author for all four company
business lines (which included chemical, fuel, polymer and apparel
products). Majority of authoring was for new, R&D products (no
templates were ever used). I performed all necessary international
standard evaluations, toxicology profiles, physical analyses,
transportation classifications and translations.
. Broad spectrum knowledge of not only domestic regulatory bodies
and entities, such as ANSI, NIOSH, TSCA, EPA, OSHA, DOT, SARA, PCRC,
CERCLA, RCRA, HMIS, and NFPA, Prop 65, but also foreign regulatory
standards throughout each of the countries of the European Union (EINECS,
ECHA), Asia-Pacific, South America, Mexico, and Canada (CEPA, WHMIS, DSL /
NDSL).
. IUCLID 5 data migration experience in preparation of REACH
registration dossiers.
. Performed constant research to remain current with process
safety innovations and regulatory and trade standards. Extremely well
versed in shipping regulations and logistics (land, sea and air) on a
global basis.
. Root cause analysis investigations and CAPA activities for factories
and HAZMAT transport.
. In addition to a strong regulatory and science background,
computer abilities included extensive Microsoft Office knowledge, including
constant usage of Word, Excel, Access, Adobe, NetMeeting, and Outlook, as
well as various internet research tools and capabilities.
. Required significant vision, compliance, and integrity, all
based upon sound principles of Market Based Management. Strong multi-
tasking abilities and written and verbal skills, especially with constant
inter-departmental / international communications, were absolutely
necessary due to the scope of this position, from Chemical Engineers to
Product Stewards. Products could not be shipped, nor compliance achieved,
until research and knowledge culminated in authoring the best, most
accurate hazard communications possible for the safety of our customers and
employees, globally, by being 100% compliant, 100% of the time.
After my lay-off in January, 2009, (and in addition to caring for our first
child born 2 months afterward), I was extremely active in webinars,
internet training courses, and receiving automatic regulatory updates from
the Code of Federal Regulations, OSHA, REACH, GHS, SARA, CA Prop 65, and
more.
