EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

Meadowbank Engineering August 1992

Started apprenticeship whilst attending Lloyds Training on day release. I was working hands on with MMA and MIG welding, mostly heavy plate fabrications for steel and recycling plants, using both mild and stainless steel.

Stonefield Engineering December 1993

I continued my apprenticeship here. I did a lot of site work; this was mainly at bakeries installing fabricated pipe work for gas, steam and vinegar. I worked at other sites including refactory and steel processing plants. Work again included fabricated pipe work and installing machines. Some shop work was involved which included welding pressure vessels both stainless and mild steel. Also fabricating and welding various types of structural steelwork was also involved.

Extec Screens & Crushers January 1999

I was part of a team fabricating crusher chassis for quarries although mainly box section. Welding heavy plate work which was fully rooted and capped with flux core wire was one of my roles. Some tank welding was also involved for contents such as diesel and oil.

Qualter Hall January 2003

Welding chassis and parts for fork trucks, which included fuel and hydraulic oil tanks and some heavy plate works up to 20mm was my main role for the first few months. I was then required to take coding to work on jobs exclusively for a customer who made rolling stock and carriage for railways which were stamped and x-ray tested.

May 2005 returned to Extec to work on some machines but working by the way of piecework. Made redundant January 2007.

Corus Engineering Steels 2007 (Agency work)

I was based in the boiler shop where we were required to repair and fully overhaul ladles and molten steel carriers. These are heavy plate fabrications with full penetration welds and are welded with flux core mig wire. The welding is then inspected and tested with ultrasound.

I also welded a wide range of medium to heavy plate fabrications with minimum test requirements of MPI up to ultrasonic. Site maintenance was also a part of my job, including crane track repairs’ and full furnace overhauls. Most welding was again tested to a minimum of magnet particle inspection. Some copper welding was also involved pressure tested to 15 bar.

MTL Group 2009

Welding components for M.O.D made from armour plate. Took a series of tests to work on fabrications for off shore wind farms such as heavy plate and structural pipe work. Tests included Lloyds registered butt welds which had to conform to NORSOK, a Scandinavian quality standard.

I feel I can put my own ideas and opinions to jobs if required and work conscientiously to a high standard without supervision.
