Technical Infrastructure Supervisor Manager - AIS IIS Portfolio Management

Responsibilities:

Supervised the Financial support function for Aetna's mainframe hardware and

software. This required monthly monitoring & reporting on Aetna's portfolio

hardware and software spending throughout the year.

Manage the maintenance contracts on Aetna's Data Center hardware. This

required working with vendors (IBM, EMC, HP etc.) to negotiate rates and

facilitate maintenance contracts. This necessitated the need to set up

inventory procedures to ensure Aetna wasn't being overcharged for equipment

that was inactive.

Provided ad-hoc financial research and support for Aetna's IT management.

This meant providing tools, financial models, processes and needs to

successfully meet financial goals and reporting requirements.

Accomplishments:

Provided solid documentation of Aetna claims during a major legal dispute

with a vendor. This backup was instrumental in Aetna saving millions of

dollars in contract disputes and landed a refund credit of $13.7M. Senior

management recognized this accomplishment by bestowing a "Gold" award under

the "Aetna Way Excellent Award" program.

Worked with vendors to consolidate multiple maintenance contracts. These

consolidations allowed vendors to provide Aetna with deeper discounts on

maintenance costs. The annual run rate savings attributed to these higher

discounts was $1.0M.

Collaborated with Aetna's IT areas and the Fixed Asset department to "scrub"

Aetna's inventory. This generated the removal of almost 900 devices off of

Aetna's books. The net property tax savings associated with these removals

were approximately $700K.

2001 - 2002 The Hartford

Financial Manager - Life Technology & Infrastructure Services (LTIS)

2001 - 2002

Responsibilities:

Manage, develop and implement budgeting methodology for LTIS. Monitor budget

performance and provide timely feedback on expected variances.

Prepare strategic and operating plans, which provides performance analysis

and forecasting of the financial position of LTIS.

Develop comprehensive methodology for the accurate costing of LTIS Products

and Services effectively aligning LTIS expenses with a product or service.

Perform ad-hoc research and financial analysis for senior IT management

Accomplishments:

Developed a Financial Report for LTIS so that monthly, LTIS Management could

analyze and report on the department Financial results, Staff levels and

Business areas Billings.

Coordinated and developed a new Product Pricing model for LTIS. This

methodology was consolidated onto a "one" exhibit, which made it easier for

Management to analyze and comprehend the cost accounting concepts of Product

Pricing.

Developed and distributed a Quarterly "True-up" Report, which outlined to the

Hartford Life Business how the LTIS costs were distributed to Line of

Business.

1978 - 2001 AETNA Inc.

Manager - Aetna Information Management (AIM)

1993 - 2001

Responsibilities:

Manage financial control for AIM including budget, billing, expense spending

($608M in 2000), product pricing and project prices, monthly internal/CFO/

internal customers' reporting and quarterly business reporting.

Provide guidance on financial issues, control and accountability and

performance to AIM's CIO, and departmental heads (Network & Distributed

Services, Operational Services, EMS and Technical Architecture & Standards).

Become fluent in AIM business and financial drivers for best AIM

representation to the Aenta USHC and Aetna Inc. Financial Community.

Oversee financial activity for the merger and acquisition of NYLCare and

Prudential HealthCare.

Accomplishments:

1999 favorable financial results $63M expense underage in addition to $48.5M

provided to AIM customers (Aetna USHC, AFS and Corp.). Successfully met

Corporate commitment and business target.

Product Pricing, in the Computer Center, resulted in an annual 12% reduction

from 1996-2000.

Strategically developed Monthly Management Report and Monthly Financial

Performance "Flash" Report (5th business day).

Developed an Unplanned Project process which enhanced financial control and

Expense Manager - Property Casualty Information Technology

Managed Department Budget for Property Casualty IT organization (Budget

$225M). Oversaw and monitor the implementation of rigorous controls

throughout IT organization including revamping the controls and follow-up

Management. Was the primary liaison with internal and external department

expense reporting. Designed and implemented company-wide budget reporting
