CA-HWY 1 RESURFACE PROJECT – Mill Valley, CA 2012

Construction Inspector. Responsible for observation and inspection of the resurfacing of 18 miles of remote mountain roads including blind grades and switchbacks, between Highway101 to Stinson Beach. Construction split between night and day shifts according to population inconvenience. Responsibilities included; inspection of materials, roadway repair, removal of asphalt due to stripes containing lead paint contaminates, traffic control supervision, complete resurface of highway with Bonded Wearing Course (CTM#125) extended life asphalt mix, calling in/off road closures with Caltrans radio room, reviewed plans and specifications, coordinated delivery of materials and quantity tracking, monitored material temperatures, documented personnel, and equipment. Project related correspondence included; NCO’s, CCO’s, and extra work verification.

INTERSTATE 405 HOV WIDENING PROJECT - Los Angeles, CA 2010-2011

Construction Inspector and Assistant Structures Representative. Responsible for preparation of project related correspondence such as; daily diaries, inspection summaries, concrete pour and reinforcing steel placement records. Oversaw and inspected main water line placement, vaults, valve placement and testing, and was the direct contact with LADWP, which also included sewer and storm drain tie-ins, and new manhole access placement. Field inspection on false work erection and removal, CIDH Piles, slip-form barrier rail, moment slabs, sound wall and retaining walls, pilaster pre-cast girders, pre-cast deck panels, form construction and form stripping, footings and bent construction, tie back walls, MSE walls, solder nails, shotcrete and grout, slurry, pot-holing for utilities, pre-cast concrete pile installation, mechanical coupler connections for reinforcing steel, overhead sign foundations and pedestals, AC and PC placement, removing and replacing unsound concrete, placing methacrylate resin and polyester concrete and replacing existing joint seals. Verified all project construction was in accordance to plan, RFI's, CCO's, and NCO's. Governing agency involvement experience included working relationships with representatives of Caltrans, Metro, and HNTB.

L.A.D.W.P OWENS VALLEY LAKE DUST MITIGATION PROJECT - Keeler, CA 2008-2009

Construction Inspector with daily responsibilities including; observation, inspection, and documentation of the restructure of the once-dry lake bed to reduce air contamination from heavy dust movement. The project included a segmented layout composed of wet lands, reservoirs, reinforced concrete separations, moment slabs, rip-rap, foundations, which required soil sampling, compaction testing, installation of pump stations and supporting plumbing, sampling concrete pours, earth work, shotcrete, tie back walls cast in drilled hole pile as well as construction of AC roadways throughout the entire project to separate the specific portions of the layout, which included construction of levee style foundations and spillways.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LOGISTICS AIRPORT/LEAD INDUSTRY TRACK - Victorville, CA 2007

Construction Inspector/Office Engineer on the reinforced concrete box storm drain and storm drain system project. Responsible for project documentation and correspondence for all phases of the project including; inspection and confirmation of all reinforcing steel and all concrete placement (some of which included extremely large single shift pours exceeding 2,000 cubic yards in a single pour), shoring and tie back walls, shotcrete, formwork and falsework for drain inlets and manhole placement. Verified that no steel reinforcement was exposed throughout the entire structure prior to and following all concrete placement; this was critical due to the extensive exposure to water in this application. Direct contact with the Architect, City Engineers and contractor for design changes CCO's and extra work tracking.

NATIONAL TRAILS HIGHWAY OVERHEAD PROJECT - Victorville, CA 2006-2008

Construction Inspector/manager, performed construction observation and inspection of the built-on-grade railway overhead structure, cast-in-place columns, structure backfill, coordination of material and compaction testing, falsework, and steel reinforcing bar and concrete placement according to project plans, and specifications. Additional responsibilities included; daily diaries, inspection summaries, concrete pour documentation, reinforcing steel placement records, extra work verification, pre stressing verification, and direct contact with utility companies.

SR-22 WIDENING - Santa Ana, CA 2005-2006

Construction Inspector responsible for; oversight / inspection of pump station installation and supporting water supply lines, preparation of project related correspondence such as daily diaries, inspection summaries, concrete pour records, and reinforcing steel placement records. Inspected false work erection and removal, CIDH Piles, slip-form barrier rail, moment slabs, sound wall and retaining walls, pilaster placement, pre-cast concrete pile installation, mechanical splices for reinforcing steel, overhead sign foundations and pedestals, and column fiber wrap installation. Developed working relationships with various governing agencies including; the Orange County Transportation Corridor (OCTA), and Caltrans District 12 (who had oversight responsibilities).

SCVTA, San Jose - CA 2003-2005

Construction Inspector responsible for; construction inspection on several projects including, the Route 85/Highway 101 North Interchange in Mountain View, the Bailey Avenue Overcrossing of Highway 101 in Morgan Hill, and the completion of Route 152 Widening in Gilroy, California. Conducted construction inspection activities representing the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority. Worked closely with Caltrans District 4, who provided construction oversight of the Measure B Highway Program. All field construction inspection activities were conducted in accordance with the current edition of the Caltrans Construction Manual, as well as the Caltrans Standard Specifications and the project Special Provisions.
