I currently work here part-time, typically working 20-30 hours per week. This is a high volume ICANL
(Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories) certified department. I
operate two Siemens C-Cams and a Siemens E-Cam on a daily basis. I open the department daily,
perform all facets of MPI (myocardial perfusion imaging) and MUGA (multi gated acquisition) studies,
send data and communicate results to the physicians, perform quality control on both imaging and non-
imaging equipment, and close the department. I also contribute to testing QI (quality improvement) and
QA (quality assurance) measures for ICANL re-certification.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
QC (quality control) on gamma cameras
W ell counter and dose calibrator QC
Prepare resting and stress doses for injection
Obtain patient history and start patent IV for injections
Aseptically inject radioisotope and/or adjunct pharmaceuticals
Position patient correctly to obtain optimal images
Process and send images to physicians offices for interpretation
Record all patient tests to a compact disc f or archiving of images
Document all information or instances during patients’ procedure
Order doses for studies scheduled on the following day
Perform daily monitoring of all areas in department
Perform weekly wipe tests

At the end of my time with Medstar I was working on a contingent basis, typically between 12 -24 hours
per week. I was an EMT-Basic with responsibility to respond to emergent situations in a calm, collected
manner while administering immediate medical care to al l patients. I transported patients to the nearest
medical facility by the quickest and safest means. Patient care was turned over to emergency nursing
staff with a full patient report.
