Business Unit Manager: Hearthside Food Solutions 2005 / 2012
Formerly known as Roskam Baking Company
Manage the Components Division with the directive of improving product
quality while increasing process uptime and customer satisfaction.
Process Quality Engineer: Electrolux Major Appliance 2004
/ 2005
Manage second and third shift process and quality issues. Determine
root cause of process/product issues leading to closure. Implemented
process/product improvements that lead to increased productivity and
improved quality. Worked with Manufacturing Engineering, Plant
Maintenance, Production Management and Supplier Quality, on a daily
basis to provide continuous improvements that have led to several new
first time Quality Records.
Quality Engineer: Shape Corporation 2003 / 2004
Project Team Member responsible for control plans, vendor quality
assurance program, and approval of gage design, gage R & R and work
instructions. Performed and presented PPAP submissions to Tier 1
Furniture and Automotive customers. Travel to customers and vendors to
troubleshoot process and product problems, analyze and negotiate
solutions. Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) for 10 new
projects.
Cell Leader: Shape Corporation 2002 / 2003
Managed roll formed production lines. Planned and monitored raw
material inventory and scheduled staff to meet customer demand.
Maintained finished goods inventory via Kan-Ban. Had hired / fire
authority, performed annual reviews. Analyzed associate deficiencies
and planned training for associate development. Started with 3% OEE,
improved process to 38% OEE. Presented reports to management comparing
performance to corporate goals. Annual sales for cells was $6,000,000.
The above line was the worst line in the company. Under my
supervision, there was improved efficiency, the line was able to build
a three week bank of parts, a major overhaul/upgrade was completed and
move to a new facility was facilitated. These objectives were
achieved through root cause closure on all process issues including
safety occurrences.
Manufacturing Engineer: Shape Corporation 1999 / 2002
Facilitate process improvement by analyzing downtime causes, safety
hazards, and production shortfalls. Implement ergonomic and
efficiency enhancements after justifying payback of process upgrades.
Participate in tool design approval, process runoff, plant layout,
process improvements, efficiency improvements, safety improvements.
Facilitator for group kaizen events.
Quality Engineer: Shape Corporation 1997 / 1999
Project Team Member responsible for quality, internal control plans
and vendor quality assurance program. Reviewed and approved gage
design, FMEA, control plans and work instructions of vendors.
Presented PPAP submissions to Honda, Mitsubishi and Nissan. Interact
and socialize with customers. Troubleshoot process / product.
Casting Sales Inc. Sales Engineer / Program Manager 1993 / 1997
Secured sales contracts in excess of $2,700,000 for aluminum, gray and
ductile iron castings and powdered metal parts. Responsibilities
included usual account management duties. Worked with customer
engineering during the development phase to improve product / process
capability. Oversaw tooling design and build for machining of
castings. Provided Program Management for machining and painting of
casting to supply end user with finished parts / prototypes.
Schrader Machine and Tool: Quality Engineer / Quality Manager 1983 / 1993
Started as a production machinist. Promoted to supervisor, then
quality technician. Promoted to Quality Engineer upon completion of
Applied Science degree. Managed quality assurance operations.
Responsible for receiving inspection, in process inspection, final
inspection, vendor audits / approval. Interacted with customer
engineers to improve process / product capability. Responsible for
gage design, obtaining customer approval, purchasing and management of
budget for all gages. Reviewed datum and dimensioning schemes.
Supervised apprenticeship programs for quality engineers. Presented
PPAP submissions to Ford Motor, Chrysler and General Motors.
