Directed and managed the supply chain of $850 million in raw materials for
blast furnace, BOP and electric furnace operations in a QS-9000
environment.
Achievements
. Strategically sourced the acquisition of coke and iron ore from China and
South America and pig iron from Brazil savings of $2.8 million.
. Strategically sourced from General Motors and Honda combined over $800
million of high quality prime steel scrap eliminating the need to
springboard more expensive scrap from outside the regional marketplace.
. Implemented a strategy to purchase alloy content scrap reducing or
eliminating the need to purchase virgin metal. Program reduced nickel
metal costs in finished steel by 22 percent and molybdenum by 18% and
eliminated the need to purchase virgin cobalt.
. Hedged nickel and aluminum purchases resulting in saving $1.8 million
over three years.
. Negotiated three year deal in a supply short marketplace for the purchase
of Low Carbon Ferrochrome resulting in a net savings of $0.8 million.

Managed a staff of 7 directing the purchasing, forecasting, inventory
control and contracted steel processing functions for eight multi-state

. Established and managed supply chain as a Tier 1 supplier to GM and Ford;
managed 15 off-site contracted steel processing operations, matching
processing capabilities with specific customer requirements, meeting the
production demand schedules of "automotive" with a 99% on time delivery
performance, a 100% quality rating, and increasing Republic's market
share by 7.3%.
. Implemented supplier based MRP program focused on the steel service
center industry resulting in improving on time delivery by 27%, and
increasing market share by 7.2%.
. Obtained $1.2 million annual logistics savings by consolidating carriers
and developing specific supplier routing guidelines.
