Objective

Highly skilled retired Personnel Officer seeking to return to the Personnel

arena.

Work Experience

Pastor

7/2008 - 4/2012 Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, West Milton, OH

As a First Call Pastor in a small town church, I was successful in refocusing

the congregation from self-care to seeing God's mission in our neighborhoods.

Started a Community Garden, Farmer's Market, Angelfood Ministry, Relay for

Life Team, and quarterly mission trips into downtown Dayton to feed the

homeless and provide spiritual care for the disadvantaged in Dayton.

Contributions:

Provided spiritual and pastoral care for congregation of 219 baptized members.

Visited homebound parishioners as well as those in nursing homes and assisted

care living situations. Provided for funerals, weddings and other religious

rites and ceremonies for congregational needs.

Began a monthly worship prayer service at Sienna Mercy Village assisted living

apartments and care facility in Dayton. Average attendance is 27 individuals

representing numerous faith backgrounds.

Provided pastoral care for hospitalized members and others at all Miami Valley

Hospitals. Currently hold chaplain credentials at Good Samaritan Hospital and

Upper Valley Medical center.

Demonstrated outstanding leadership by raising the funds and procuring the

equipment to renovate the sanctuary with state of the art projectors, cameras,

and video equipment allowing the church to provide contemporary worship

experiences and also to provide video recordings for weddings, baptisms, etc.

Studied demographic data and door to door calling to determine the target

population and their needs. Designed a worship experience to appeal to those

who are unchurched in our neighborhood. The result: welcomed a class of 11

brand new Christians within the first 8 months of the worship service being in

place. Good Shepherd hadn't had 11 new members at one time in over 20 years

and none of these had any prior church affiliation.

Led congregation to increase stewardship giving despite denominational

struggles and national economic downturn. Good Shepherd's budget increased

each of the three years I've been here.

Completed the Southern Ohio Synod's First Call Theological Education program

and the Southern Ohio Synod's Leadership Institute. Setting the stage for

future leadership challenges.
