Feb 2011 – May 2012

Research Assistant

Researched in the project of Calibrated Simulation Methods in Building Renovation, which is a

part of the Southern California Edison’s Emerging Technologies Program . Created an eQuest

model of a 4-story building with VAV systems in USC campus and calibrated it based on

historical energy consumption data.

Researched in Energy Simulation and Daylight Simulation of a single family residence in

China by using eQuest, EnergyPro, EnergyPlus, Beopt, HEED, Ecotect, and Vasary. Analyzed

differences between simulation results of different simulation tools.

● Tongli Construction Testing Service Corp., Suzhou, China

July 2007 – June 2010

Test Engineer

Tested quality of building materials and inspected construction performances of new buildings,

analyzed test results, and wrote test reports. Specialized in testing thermal and mechanical

characteristics of building energy conservation related materials, insulation performance of

building envelope, seal performance of windows and doors, indoor pollutant concentrations,

pile qualities, etc.

Led a group for test experiments in the area of building energy conservation and indoor air

quality. Managed plans, schedules and responsibilities for these tests in more than 20

commercial and residential projects.

● Tongfang Air Cleaning Tech. Corp., Beijing, China

Sep 2004 – June 2007

Engineering Intern

Simulated influences of indoor air cleaners, including indoor pollutant concentration and air

velocity distributions in Fluent.

Participated in designing heat recovery ventilators. Calculated efficiencies of air -to-air heat

exchangers.

Participated in testing VOCs and dust removal performance of multiple indoor air cleaners.

EXPERIENCE

● Tsinghua University, Beijing, China

July 2003 – June 2007

Research Assistant

Investigated on research of characteristics and application of small-scaled Electrostatic

Precipitators (ESP) for indoor air cleaners. Designed a set of experimental instruments and

tested dust removal efficiency of ESP under multiple conditions. Created a simplified empirical

formula of ESP efficiency and calibrated it based on experimental data.

Participated in the project of testing and improving performance of air-conditioning and

ventilating systems of the 2nd underground railway stations, Guangzhou, China. Tested indoor

thermal environments and operation parameters of mechanical systems of the stations and

analyzed monitored data.

Participated in designing air-conditioning and air-cleaning system of a 30 m3-clean-chamber in

Dept. of Building Science, Tsinghua Univ. Calculated required parameters of HEPA and

activated carbon filters.
