As you can see from the comprehensive list of trainings above, I have been
chosen to attend a wide variety of law enforcement professional development
trainings.
Engaging in these trainings have enhanced my professionalism, and have
given me an extensive understanding of both law enforcement, and criminal
investigations. It is the professional responsibility of the sheriff to be
highly trained, and well versed in criminal investigations.
Additionally, I was a proud member of the United States Army - Pennsylvania
National Guard from February 1984 until February 1990, and was an infantry
soldier. I attained the rank of Sergeant E-5, and was a squad leader. While
on a training exercise at Fort Irwin, California, I was awarded the Army
Achievement Medal, in observation and a sign of appreciation of my
leadership abilities. I also received 'Honor Graduate Distinction' after
successfully completing the Primary Leadership Development Course. Several
other courses were successfully completed, all with an emphasis on
leadership skills. I received an Honorable Discharge in February of 1990.
Months later, due to an inactive reservist list, I received a call and was
requested to place my affairs in order for possible activation into Desert
Storm; the final papers for activation were not issued.
Being a member of the Lee County Sheriff's Office SWAT for thirteen years
and in this period of time was tasked with Region 6 Homeland Security
issues as well as dignitary protection details. I've been involved with
President George Bush, President George W. Bush, Rudy Giuliani, and Gen
Norman Schwarzkopf, pictures with several.
